Yep I'm running 1.0006.

Same result. Get a connecting to server screen and after 30secs or so get thrown back to the main menu. Even turned of tyhe firewall to make sure it wasn't causing it.

Thanks very much for the feedback, much appreciated

Great, thanks mate!

(I did previously have a look at the page you linked too......guess my eyes are getting worse with age! )

Anyone else had issues installing this?

I immediately get a "Setup could not find your install of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl" message when I click on the exe.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be because my Steam install (and thus the Stalker files) are on H: drive.

I guess I could download the "manual install" of the mod and see if that gets me any further? (Bang goes another 0.5GB!)

No problems here. I installed it this morning, Steam install and all works really well. Definately smoother than before. Cheers.

lol, seems to be installing fine now....

......seems like the problem might have been that I had never actually run Stalker after downloading it in Steam!

Ran it once, changed the resolution and it has installed the mod now.

Stressed
Red face

I purchased the $3.75 bargain and played it once and thought it was pretty crap. Average graphics, poor responsiveness, no weapon Died because I didn't have a weapon, and I didn't really know what I was supposed to be doing lol, not a good first experience.

So I will check out this mod, however I assume the version listed on the downloads page(below) is the correct one, and what does it mean by "Read more about Steam installation", read WHAT, WHERE?

Ugggh I answered my own question, I was reluctant to click on the link (at work) thinking it would start the download! Found it here:
STALKER Complete 2009 1.4.2 .exe (recommended) download - Mod DB for anyone interested.

What version would the steam install of stalker have been? Will try at home this weekend.

Cheers for the heads up on this mod,
Max

2009_09_24_STALKER_Complete_2009_1.4.1.1 is the Steam version mate i got from the download page. Must have been updated since i used it.

As for the game..it is pretty bloody difficult i reckon.

This is an impressive Mod, even just regarding support.

• Retail DVD versions of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl game with 1.0005 (or 1.0006) patch
• Direct2Drive digital copy with Digital Distribution 1.0005 patch
• Steam (launch & exit the game at least once, check for version 1.0005 and install the mod)

Steam gives you version 1.0005 of STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl.
Have a look at bottom left of main menu screen.

Gee Madmax, sad to hear you had a bad experience playing this game. I found it was the best game to play since HL2 came out! I've never ever had it crash on me, but I have had some gameplay-glitches from time to time but more because I wasn't paying attention in-game... too much running around and not listening

The Earl (our son) and I have been playing priboi mod for SOC, but now we know of this mod we'll be downloading it this weekend so thanks for heads-up
