Default Operation Flashpoint 2 vs CoD Modern Warfare 2

This should spark some chat, I am trying to figure out if I'm better off playing Operation Flashpoint 2 or CoD Modern Warfare 2?

COD seems more like setpieces and crazy action while OF2 looks slow, atmospheric and deadly. I'm leaning to OF2 but is multiplayer thriving in that game as it will be in COD?
Thoughts?

Just saw CoD Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer trailer, looks a lot like counterstrike, that may have just made up my mind

Single player they're almost completely opposite to each other. OF2 is warfare on a huge map and MW2 is warfare in close quarters which is much more forgiving when you take damage.

OF2 multiplayer is a bit of a lame duck at the moment.

I enjoy playing co-op with a bunch of TOGgers but PvP is a bit of a mess. Once a game has started, you can't jump in. We create our own scenarios and jump in the mission and attempt to complete it.

Hard to say how successful MW2's multiplayer will be. I expect it to be a bit of a turkey as well but we won't really know until it's released.

One glaring difference is that OF2 is more than half the price.

Thanks Purg,
Good feedback. I like the sound of co-op actually. I used to play but really got tired of the frenetic running and dying routine, you can't out compete some of those kids

Are there enough people playing to make this a regular thing?

Cheers

used to play team fortress was what I meant to say! But it's the same with counter strike etc. Think I'll give OF2 a go.

I guess it'll depend on the upcoming patch and how the mod community embraces it. If they do work on multiplayer, particularly being able to join a session already underway and being able to download missions ingame then it may give it legs. As it stands, takes a fair bit of co-ordination and a similar timetable to get a co-op game underway.

I'm pretty happy with co-op gameplay at the moment. I'm a huge COD4 player and it just doesn't compare in scope - they require 2 completely different sets of skills and awareness.

There are a good handful of guys here that are interested in co-op. Hard to say how long that interest will go for, as a single player experience it also has decent legs and there will likely be a constant stream of missions you can download once people wrap their head around the mission editor.

The number of players seems to be growing here, pretty soon you'll have a division brimming.
