[Borderlands] Graphics Corruption

Hey guys

Sadly, while playing, the game hard crashed and now I find that I have certain textures 'missing' from the game. It seem to be certain indoor surfaces that simply appear as blank. I'm not sure how to take screen shot in game so I'm not able to give you an idea of what I mean. While I have been able to play the intro outdoor areas, I've come to Sledges Storehouse and with virtually all the walls, floor and ceiling blank, the game is unplayable.

I have used the 'Verify integrity of game cache' option under the game properties (Steam) but all verifies as OK. My hope is that I'm able to perhaps delete a texture file, run the verify check again and Steam will download the correct file but I really have no idea what to delete.

Am I going to have to delete all local content and download the entire game again?

Have you tried updating your video card driver to the latest version? It may fix the problem.

You could also try turning off dynamic shadows. This has caused graphic glitches for some people.

Thanks for the reply. Have updated drivers and changed all settings to no effect. I'm fairly certain that several files were corrupted when the game crashed. Oh well, uninstall and download the entire thing again seems to be my only option ...

Do you have any issues with other games graphically?

Rickety could you let us know your system specs please? In some cases older drivers are better than latest depending on the card I know a few people were commenting about graphics glitches and crashes earlier in the launch.

When you verified your files, did it take some time or happen almost instantly? It should take around a minute ...

If the same or similar thing is happening in other games after tying different drivers it might be hardware maybe?

I had the same problem. It was actually caused by the latest ATI drivers. If you are running an ATI disable Catalyst AI before playing the game.

A bit late but yes fantomas, turned of Catalyst AI and no more issues
