SWAT 4 New Rules of Engagement

This will be a blow to Father and Muppet but we'll be using the new 1.1 patch AND the SSF realism patch next Tuesday.

The patch forces some new ROE's, regardless of the realism mod.

When a SWAT officer approaches a hostile, he CAN NOT fire until the following conditions are met :-


If the hostile is armed but non-threatening :-

1) You must face the hostile and issue the compliance order.

You can not shoot a suspect that is non-threatening, even if they walk towards you!
You can not shoot a hostile that is in the vacinity of a hostage.
You can not shoot a hostile that is fleeing the scene.

Bottom line - simply holding a gun is not enough reason to use lethal force!

2) A hostile is deemed threatening if his gun is raised. This means elbow's locked with the gun barrel level/horizontal. Lethal force is sanctioned under these conditions.

You do not need to issue compliance.
You do not need to wait for the hostile to discharge the weapon.
You do not need to aim to injure or disarm.
Full and lethal force is authorised immediately.


In a nutshell, if gun is not raised - issue compliance.
If gun is raised - shoot to kill.
