Default [Borderlands] Level cap to be increased ... for free

Yes, free as in Beer.

Borderlands Level Cap Going Up, For Free | Kotaku Australia

Quote:
At the Gearbox panel at PAX today, company president Randy Pitchford told a Borderlands-loving audience that the level cap for that game will be going up from 61 to 69. For zero dollars. “The level cap will now be 69,” Pitchford said. “That’s the magic number.” He said the cap will come out close to the late-October release of the Borderlands Game of the Year edition. ...

Sounds good. I'm a big fan of free - especially after getting ripped off with DLC prices by 2K.

Official word directly from Gearbox themselves:

The main game and DLC's will scale with level. The gear will scale.. Com Decks will be similar though to DLC3 as their item levels are different from others.

Main game and DLC require quests to be completed before enemies begin to scale. Most players will have already completed these when they get to that point.

Crawmermax will also scale to the new cap.

So yes if you play the main Borderlands game and you are 69.. the enemies will scale to 69

So if scaling is linear, at player level 69, Crawmerax will be 72? Fun fun fun!

I'm still waiting to meet this Crawmerax.. I've got each character up to level 20 at the Leaving Fyrestone mission so have a long way to go. I'm looking forward to the challenge.

With all this great patching... have they fixed the connection issues that effectively broke the game at time of release?? I really liked the game, but it was a nightmare to get a proper game going. Not once was I able to host a game, nor able to connect to certain mates games. To put it nicely - it was borked good and proper.

I like the game, and would be happy to get back into it, but only if the joining for co-op has been fixed.

Spec, that was fixed months back. The only connection problems I've had since were user generated and once Gamespy was having issues.

Remove all previous firewall rules and forwarded ports, enable UPnP and it'll all be sweet.

You don't encounter Crawmerax until you've completed the main story quests in DLC3 (General Knoxx) - even then, Crawmerax won't be anything less than level 64 or so (right Jig?), even if you're on playthrough 1.

From the change log:

You don't even need to worry about enabling UPnP (well, not for Borderlands anyway).

Great news

Such a shame this was a problem on release - I think they really would have lost a lot of people because of this...

Yeah I only got to New haven, and have no expansions.... I hate that I have to dig out the disk every time I want to play, I tend to go "meh" and play something else instead.
