Default Homefront

Saw this title advertised on Steam, it's due to come out early March, looks interesting, it uses ingame points/cash based system where you buy weapons/vehicles during game play (kinda like Killstreak Rewards) which I think would make it a more unique FPS experience. There's a few good videos in the Steam Store. Let me know what you think.

Ill be getting this one for sure. These are the guys who did Frontlines:Fuels of War and to a much greater success Desert Combat for Battlefield.
Some of the goodies in the game are reminiscent of FFOW. Now this game was a big fail although my personal opinion is that that was due to shoddy release and lack of support rather than the game.

Heres a good vid with a breakdown of the game

I am curious to know though if the retail version is going to be steam enabled or not.
The retail and steam prices are almost the same.

Yep with you on this one. That looks fantastic.

Love the idea of the battlefront. Could add a real interesting element to the game.

I'm keeping my eye on it. I don't hold HIGH expectations as I would Battlefield, but I am kind of keen on the idea

Looks like a good one for the snipers out there, I'm more of a run and gun kind of player but will probably buy it.

I do not endorse this product and/or service.

How is this different to Frontlines? FFOW suffered for a huge number of reasons - and total lack of support was for sure the primary reason - but not the only reason. The game sucked on just about every level... and I'm seeing the exact same "issues" that they labeled as features, re-appearing here.

I understand the rationale behind the game, and I can see how it looks and sounds totally awesome on paper, but the way FFOW played out (and this appears to be the same) was that every "feature" was a distraction, and a gimmicky negative.

They talk about intuitive gameplay, but drones will be anything but. They talk about depth, yet they admit to making it simplistic - "this is not the game where you need to spend two hours learning to fly a helicopter"...

One of the absolute strengths of Desert Combat, was that you absolutely needed to spend time learning how everything worked. It presented a challenge, and encouraged replay for that very reason. Sure you could fly a chopper after two hours, but go up against a master, and you'd get your arse handed to you. That there is the real challenge, and that is the greatest possible reward, not some crap "battle points" that allow you to get what you need when you need it - where's specialisation?

All I can say is this, bah.

I was stung by FFOW. The pricing is way off to get people back. People will pay a premium for proven franchises chock full of features and support. 80US for this - no thanks I will play the single player when its $5 in a steam sale.

Bingo. I was curious about Homefront (not so much for MP), but at USD80 when Dragon Age II can be pre-ordered for noticeably less (and the up-coming BRINK likewise)? Priced out of the market.
