Mate, the easiest thing to do is install XP on a separate partition and load it from there.
I loaded COD2 on a win7 x64 machine, (Got a NVidia Quadra NVS420, that didnt help) , and it was an exercise if torture. Crashes, Freezes, loading issues, then suddenly it worked. I used a program called Realtech VR, loaded dx7 as a standalone (Very hard to find), add this, deleted that. Took me about 3 months to get it to work, but still only works at max of 100fps because of the G.C.
Its not a pleasurable experience by any means, getting older COD's to work
