Trouble loading COD1

Hey everyone, longtime for those that can remember me. I have a problem. hopefully someone will know how to help me out. I'm running Windows 7. When I attempt to run COD or CODUO this is the message I get: Program:C\:\ Program Files (x86) \ Call of Duty\CoDUO.exe then it reads: A buffer overrun has been dectected which has corrupted the programs internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated. So please someone give me the cure. I've been wating over a year to start playing again.

It's a graphics driver issue. Update to latest version and try again. Post back

Ned, no luck. I've actually tried old driver versions too. I've tried everything that I've been able to google also.

What about installing the game and./or running it in XP compatibility mode and/or Run as admin?

I'll point the cod2 div to this thread in case anyone over there has some ideas.

Mate, the easiest thing to do is install XP on a separate partition and load it from there.
I loaded COD2 on a win7 x64 machine, (Got a NVidia Quadra NVS420, that didnt help) , and it was an exercise if torture. Crashes, Freezes, loading issues, then suddenly it worked. I used a program called Realtech VR, loaded dx7 as a standalone (Very hard to find), add this, deleted that. Took me about 3 months to get it to work, but still only works at max of 100fps because of the G.C.

Its not a pleasurable experience by any means, getting older COD's to work

What version of Win7 are you running?
What graphics card and driver version?


This could be a similar buffer issue to what the old Medal of Honor expansions have seen..

Hi Mac sorry i dont have any fixes for this problem,but this thread may help me too.Im running windows7 and have Cod1 & UO from steam,all with the same Buffer overrun problem.If i can get mine running i will let you know.But i can say Cod2 is running like a dream with windows7.
