Mount & Blade: Complete on Steam

The open world would definitely make things interesting.
If hosting a multiplayer game can you add BOTs?

I have warband and can highly recommend it, played a fair bit of it (22 hours according to xfire)

It's tremendous value for the price and very unique. The fighting is quite fun, you don't see much swordfighting in games fps style and the few RPG's that do never quite get that feeling of impact right, M&B certainly does a great job of making you feel like you struck a serious blow, it's tricky particularly from horseback but very satisfying.

The story is sorta your own to make but quite addictive because of that formula, graphics could be better but I run a mod called polished landscapes which makes it look like a new game all together, a must have.

A comparison shot here:

The more I hear about this game the more I like.
I see there's demos. I'll check them out.

I got the game on a Steam sale months ago as I was interested in the concept of the game but had a quick play and found myself rather underwhelmed and thinking "better games to play".
But that really means more polished game to play, if you can get past that and just enjoy the unique gameplay you will reach that point where it goes click, "hell I'm having a good time here"!
It even became a game that was thinking about when out, can't wait to get home and get into some battles, there is a lot to do but it's very slow progress to build up your reputation and forces but that is part of the charm and the longevity.

I'm glad I gave it a second chance and made the effort to give it a proper play.
