I reckon that a tonne of good ideas made it in and that a lot are revolutionary.
the cover system
the fatigue system
the suppression system
the MG deployment system - I often have great success running from prone and having the game drop me straight back into prone setup again as soon as i stop running
the re-enforcement system
the tank interior system\crawl about and cupola look
the gun sight system - adjustable sights in an FPS - when does that ever happen?
The breathing and aim system
The squad system that only allows correct squad weapon ratios
What it does not have:
dolphin diving
a lot of juvinile players wanting a quick fix
hundreds of snipers
People running around on speed never running out of juice
lone heroes - they die quickly with this game and the way it plays

And a few other things:
Oh and a few other things not in ordinary shooters:
Pressing T to reveal the Hud with all of its information on your health is a stroke of genius. It keeps things real while only turning itself on at critical moments like when you are wounded. You can bandage yourself if the wound is minor and then continue. Most of the time the wound is not minor!!
Damage models for men and tanks! My tank has been taken out in many different ways. My engine disabled, my main gun damaged. Being able to face your tank the least damaged side for an approaching enemy.
The squad leader orders system is a little more like what you see in company of heroes where you tell men to take position at a certain point.
the support bar to ask for ammo and assistance, arty etc
