The original game was based on the UT3 engine. The word is that ME2 is based on the BF3 Engine - Frostbite 2.

There has already been a bit of cross pollinisation - Consider the jumping animations that were incorporated into BF3 engine, and of course the brightly coloured french offices level in the single player that was very reminiscent of the aesthetic in the original game.

Agreed. Hopefully DICE will find another way to add urgency and jeopardy to ME2, assuming it does get made. I guess the main thing needed is the rush of pursuit but without the use of traditional FPS methods. That will take a little imagination on their part.

BTW -- last night I accomplished a tricky jump that had me stalled for a couple of hours! Huzzah! Now I have to face several armed cops in the shopping mall. Oh well ...

How about we just lower-case the E for Mirror's Edge because Mass Effect was first and Effect is a larger (2-syllable) word. ME1 was released in 2006, Me1 was released after in 2007.

That all sounds a bit too sensible to me.

Speculation about a sequel to DICE's first person parkour game Mirror's Edge received another shot in the arm today, with a pre-roder listing for Mirror's Edge 2 appearing on amazon.de the German website of major online retailer Amazon (thanks VG247).

The listing has since been removed, but the Internet never forgets, and allgamesbeta has a screengrab evidence. It's far from a confirmation of course, but there have been quite a number slip ups from European online retailers over the past year that have preceded actual announcements.

They'd be silly not to at least have Mirrors Edge 2 in the works with a Rift sitting on some of the programmer's desks. They'd get a lot of free press and it could become the must have demo any news report about the rift shows being played and so on.

I think I saw a rumour that ME2 might be one of the games that Microsoft stumps up the dollars to make an XBox One exclusive. That would suck.
