Default BF2 and Widescreen

hello I’m new to this site , just a couple of questions , does anyone use widescreen LCD's when gaming , I’m in the midst of buying a new system and have purchased a DELL 2405FPW screen and from what i have read in other forums the game doesn’t support widescreen mode , which is not fare specially for a new game.
I was wondering if anyone can shed some light with regards to BF2 and windscreen LCD's can you tell me the Quality, performance and any other things I should know.

Much appreciated

I have the same monitor and, yes, you can "trick" BF2 into using the native resolution.
Go to your shortcut icon on the desktop, right click, select "properties", in the "target" field add this line to the end of the text "+widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200" (without the quotation marks and with a space in between it and the last word). Start up the game and see if it works.
If it still doesn't want to work you may have to go to:
C:\Documents and Settings\"your name"\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles
and go to the "001" and "default" files, open the "video.con" files with wordpad and add "rem " to the "VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz" line so it reads "rem VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz". Let me know if it works.
