I get the rage, but the thing with Tribes is everything is meant to have a counter, including effective HoF play. To counter reach, apart from the fact cappers are generally way squishy, use mines, turrets and shields and most importantly go for the juggle. A near miss to the front of a fast capper with a spinfusor is often better than a direct hit, because it's the opposite of a disc jump and slows them down hard for chasers and HoF chainwhoring. Then it doesn't matter if they had reach when they grabbed, they going down, and someone's getting a defender accolade. Also, body blocking, if you're eyeballing the incoming capper, is easier than midairing. jump forward as the approach the flag, heavy off the flag style. Drives reachers nuts

Personally, I step back one step. It gives you a little more room to maneuver, and a bit of space for chainwhoring the capper.

Im not decided on reach. Its obviously very good for almost any roles but I play a bit of DMB and reach is the least of my problems. If they come high, the chaingun eats them. If they come in at blind angles, they have little roome to move and can be body blocked.
Timed shield dropping is also very powerful.

Its the power of the raider class and inf clears, done well, that really hurts. Oh and strikes are a pain in the ass on pubs...hate em. Heavies dont seem to be an issue if you have decent midfield support.

It also nets you more points because you probably get the flag return too.

I can understand why Bittah ban it, but it does have a counter. The HOF steps left/right/jumps slightly to still be in the way.

I use reach to beat the HoF all the time.

HoF is not perfect and nor should it be. No perk should be perfect.

On the upside, red_one, bittah bans reach. They also ban the plasma gun, strikes, whiteout grenades, and tanks.
