Prerequisite programs for Tribes Ascend

I just downloaded Tribes Ascend on Steam. When got ready to start the game I received a message 'Tribes Ascend must install prerequisite programs now in order to play."

What are the Prerequisites programs?

There is no bloatware associated with Tribes:Ascend. There is a server process that sits in the background while the game is running. Rumour has it that its part of the its anti-cheat strategies.

Also, it hooks up a flash plugin for the in-game browser used for watching streams.
