Epic zombie thread.

BFV was great for its time simply because it refreshed the BF1942 game engine to handle proper jet and helicopter combat with airborne radar and early warning. When I bought my copy it came with a soundtrack disk with the hits from the 1960s which was a nice mood maker.

The radio announcer for the ingame radio was a nice touch which harks back to the vibe of every Vietnam war movie ever made (ie. Apocalypse Now, Good Morning Vietnam, Hamburger Hill, etc.)

My feeling is that the games after it were over produced (eg. BF2, BF2142) and never really captured that classic Vibe which kept BF1942 players still playing either the original or the mods (ie. DC, Forgotton Hope, Pirates, Starwars, etc.), long after BFV, BF2, BF2142 were regulated to the bargain basement bins at your local games shop.

Yep, the music rocked. Good to see a few peeps still playing 2142 too, I didn't realise it was still kicking, as I've been playing far too much Frontlines of late.

have to admit I enjoyed it too. got it cheap(free?) with a pizza hut pizza in 2005. Back then I spent most of my time in UT2004 though.
