Default Just played the Rainbow Six:Lockdown demo and WOW.

Well like the subject line says, I played the newly released demo for the upcoming (Feb.6th, I believe) FPS 'Rainbow Six:Lockdown' and I was extremely impressed with this game.

Amazing graphics (if you have the hardware of course), very solid gameplay, great teammate AI and slick interface. In fact everything about this game screams 'polished and fun'. The weapons had a super feel to them and there were just enough nifty gadgets to add to the fun without adding confusion. The game will also come with a sweet co-op mode (yay! more games need this!) and full suite of multiplayer options as well.

Just a really impressive game all around...

I realize that this is the BF2 forums but I wanted to share the news in case it might be of interest to some of you looking for a change of pace from time to time. Not that I'm in any way about to quit playing my beloved BF2 but this game was really cool. Also, if you have one of those new-fangled Logitech G-15 keyboards, this game actually uses the game's LCD screen to show in-game stats and stuff...

I'm gonna DL this and try it out.. I'm a big fan of the original R6.

I've heard that it's a bit run and gun though. I really would like a contemporary version of the original style of gameplay that made R6 so popular.

So.. got any links for us for decent DL sites? Or do I have to stop being lazy and find em myself?

I'd go with Fileshack myself, it's the fastest file-server game site I've ever had the pleasure to use, plus if you want to have their Mercury service (fastest downloads, no waiting in line) it only costs a dollar for a whole month.

I'm not sure what you meant by run n gun, but they did remove the strategy planning phase (but not many people I know even used that anymore, sadly) if that's what you mean.

It's hard to say too much about the single-player portion from only one map/mission though...I'm just keen for a new FPS for my LANs that I run at my house and attend in town.

PS. Bigtabs, did you see the Man U vs Burton game today? I was SO hoping for an upset but Burton refused to do any attacking after the first fifteen minutes...they didn't even look like they wanted to pass the ball into ANY risky situations...it was pretty lame.

This is the link for an Aussie local download, from GayMarina.

Must warn you all.... Comments about the demo make it sound like a Console-like game. Be your own judge.

WhoTF are Burton? I've obviously heard of Man U.

Soz mate, footy is not really my thing.

I like playing sports (in fact I played for my country a few years back) but I can't seem to find watching them interesting at all... aside from the very occasional hour watching the snooker on the telly. I think the colours must hypnotise me or something as I don't play the game and don't care who wins. Hmm.

Yeah, but those comments would be wrong in my opinion. The game has far better graphics than any console, the gameplay is very much a PS FPS. Quite impressive...maybe I'm just spoiled cause I got to play it on a really great system but ...

Some are whining about the faster character movement but I find that much more appealing than a game like the recent SWAT where you move like you have lead blocks on your feet.

I saw this was released yesterday, but didn't get a chance to download it. I'm definitely going to do so now.

You definitely won't regret it unless you were an old school, hardcore R6 junkie and want complete realism and the tactical pre-planning stage. Then I could see you having some issues with the game but for me, I loved it.

Whoo!! Thanks for the heads-up Wytefang!!

I really got into Rainbow 6 - Raven Shield, infact, it was my introduction into online play. Raven Shield was great but single player mode got tiring very quickly.

Will try to d/l the demo this weekend.

Thanks for the local URL Spec!
