Vegetation.

That's all I'm after. Lots of foliage.

Vanilla doesn't have a spec of grass. I find it hard going back to the hard flat grey land of vanilla.

Again, thanks for the relpies.

Ghost Dog, I completely agree with everything you said. When I used to play it on the pub servers, I'd get a nice big gold or silver medal for my efforts, so its not that I was crap, but the teamplay element was just not there. Of course with any online team based game, the team element is the deciding factor.

I think I'll accept your invitation Dars. I hate to pay that much and have it used as a drink coaster. I'll give it another go with some cooperative players.

As for the vegetation, and long grass that you all love so much, I have found that to be a totally flawed, badly implemented idea. I love hiding in the grass. It s great, and its what the Vietnam experience should be. However, (I hope a patch fixes this) the grass is only generated for viewing to a certain distance, and is then faded out. I often spotted snipers "hiding" in deep grass from miles away, as they can be seen very clearly once passed the certain viewing distance. Looking across a valley, I'd see guys just laying on the grass out in the open, and there for all the world (and gunsights) to see.

As for the city maps, I really loved them. Truly felt like I was in Full Metal Jacket! Totally hectic, full of atmosphere, but lacking in coordinated teamwork that all pub servers suffer with.

And just because I love DC so much, Basrah Nights has brilliant vegetation patched to hide in. I don't know why they can't inplement this into the other maps.

Has anyone tried DCX? As a sniper, one of your weapon slots is vegetation, that you can surround yourself with and hide in. Its a great idea, and works quite well. Just wish is was standard!

Thanks guys.

Try Ho Chi Minh trail. It's that foliage I'm thinking of. Trees so thick you're visability is almost nill and your hearing senses are stretched to the limit. That's atmosphere.

I will try out that disappearing grass thing though - since you've mentioned it.

Ghostdog said it all for me. The only thing I don't like about BF:V is they way the helo's handle. Don't get me wrong I love flying them but they have totally destroyed my helo abilities in DC. It take me about 2 maps to get the hang of them after using the BF:V ones.

I do agree with you comments about pub play non-cooperation. It rarely exists. When it does it is such a nice surprise. Tuesday night two sas blokes were using the huey gunship so I figured why not and jumped in. Great stuff, truely fun to fly with.

You are scaring me with the follage thing. I'm going to have to check this out asap as I am a bit of a sneaky follage whore and always use terrain or basically anything to hid/move around in.

I guess if you on and play with us in ventrillo etc that will give to a much better idea of what it is about. I hope it changes your mind.

That is a graphics driver bug, I have seen it mentioned on other forums. I had a similar bug with a certain nVidia driver in DC - all I could see were players and vehicles.

Default Helo

Well if hellos are harder to handle in DC then I'm stuffed I think I've stayed in the air for no more than 30sec before crashing in bfv, back to the old trusty long rifle Although a week ago I had the best time in a chopper with another guy non TOG in the pubs, he flew and I shot stuff . I think we only got killed once, but we did a hell of a lot of damage, we came first and second at the end, great fun.

hehe the differences in flying helos between the two games is like comparing driving a tank and a Cobra in BF:V. They are very sensitive in DC. I took off the other day in DC in the appache and managed to put it into a spin as soon as I took off, nearly crashed it. Also took me about 3 goes to re learn the knack of hovering.

Sort of the same thing for me with tanks. I refuse to use DC tanks anymore as they stuff up my aiming in the BF1942 ones.

Yeah true.

They are all very different games from each other. And yes, Viking, helo's are impossibe in DC compared with BF:V. I just hate the tanks in vanilla now. Just too soft in both firepower and armour. I suppose thats why I love DC so much.

As for the foliage issue, its the grass I'm talking about, not the shrubs, or anything with structure. Purely the grass, and yes it is a graphical blip, as the AGP stops redering it at "x" distance, thereby leaving you as naked as a newborn. That wouldn't be so much of a problem if you could see through it whilst you are lying in it, but since you can't see four feet in front of you, you'd naturally expect that it would and should be the same from the other end of a sniper rifle.

I have jumped onto a few COGs games with my newly fellow TOGers, and I'm viewing it a little better thanks to your input. I did seem to have a little more fun, and with a whole squad, I imahine it would be a hoot.

I'll jump in next time there's a pub stack!
