Good FPS shooter recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good Online First Person shooter similar to Battlefield 2. My problem is that my computer just meets the minimum requirements for Battlefield 2 and while I can play it runs a bit choppy and I just can’t compete.

I have a 2G processor, 513 ram, and a GForce 5500 256 mb graphics card.
What are some good online FPS that I could play that are popular.

Maybe try the Battlefield Anthology. I think that's the name, but it includes everything Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam. You could prolly score it for about $20-30.

Other than that, you could try out Planetside if you don't mind the monthly fee.

I played it a bit when I got Half Life 2, but it didn't last long. It didn't really interest me too much that I had to earn money through kills or winning rounds in order to get better weapons. I also happened to play with a bunch of immature kids and that in itself completely ruined it for me. Granted it's not something with the game, but was somethingI didn't care to use my limited gaming time with.

Day of Defeat may be a better call, though I think there's only 4 or 5 maps.

any of those would work on your rig and plenty of online servers/people to game with

Enenmy Territory and America's Army both have active followings here in TOG and best of all both are Free to D/L


Planetside does have a free (but restricted) mebership on at the moment, the only downside there is having to play on US servers

Our Desert Combat team is still active.

So buy the BF1942 anthology and download the Mod which upgrades the game to be analoguous to Gulf War era Modern combat arms (ie. F16 Falcons, M1A1 Abrams, T72 Tanks, Mig-29).

It also a better test of your skill than BF2 due to the lack of guided munitions (ie. Heat seekers) on most weapon platforms.

it runs on very modest hardware,there is no online subscription fee,you can pick it up for $10 if you look around and we have a very active UT div here for you to game with...

It's also a lot of fun...
