[UT2k4] shield gun

The Shield Gun... does anyone actually use this thing??
Can I get some opinions on it. When to use etc

I've always thought that the best form of defense is to attack.

I have the shield gun bound to X. If you have to bail out of a Raptor at height, switch to the shield gun and use alternate fire to cushion the fall.

I really only use the shield gun to take some of the oomf out of falls from great heights (as Rubi said, from a raptor).

Primary fire can charge up quite a whollop and if timed right can take an opponent out with 1 or 2 hits. The secondary fire (shield) only protects you from "energy weapons" but is the landing pad of choice.
