Username change for BF2

Howdy gents, just wondering if its possible to change your name in profiles in the BF2 folder using notepad? is this true? There has to be a better way than creating a new account and losing all those hard earned points. Cheers!

Actually... lemme know what your current in-game username is before I make that statement. You can't change what you've already got. For example, I've got my name as TOG-Spectre8. This cannot be changed. What I CAN do, is add a clan tag to it. Seeing as I've already got one, I don't need to. If I were to change clans, I wouldn't be able to remove the TOG bit.

Sorry if you know this already, but just checking!!

The clan prefix option can be changed, but that is all.

thanx man for helping me out. My username is Lightbolb. i have read that you can open the profiles folder with notepad which i have done but did not attempt the change. Just want it to be TOG Lightbolb. Cheers Mick

When you log in to the "User Account", there is an option box titled Clan Tag, or something like that. Just type TOG | in there, and it "should" then appear in game to all other players.

The Profile editing you mention, is to alter the "|" or pipe symbol, as apparently it doesn't like to appear that way.

What this does, is shows your clan tag to all others when in-game. It doesn't appear permanently on your account, but stays there (in-game) until you specifically remove it.

Sorry for the misinformation. I assumed you (like me) had a clan tag attatched to your player name already. If I was to ever leave TOG, I'd need a new account to get rid of it, as it's part of my full registered account. Thought yours was too.
