Default Which FPS Do Most of the US Folks Play?

Deciding to take a break from the mmorpg treadmill for a while, I have decided to learn how to do on-line fps'ing. I have downloaded a demo for bf1942 and been toying with that (I'm sure I'll do better with a manual lol), however before I purchase it, or another title (will be only one, as I will be buying Doom3 Tues), I would like to know what most of the folks in the US play...bf1942, bfv, ut2004, CoD? Currently on terminal leave from the USAF, so can play about anytime, but will be having to find a J.O.B. soon and that will limit my playtime to evenings and weekends, CST....sooooooo....which game is in need of another player on US time?

Well, I'd have to say that while BFV and UT have quite a contingent, the vast majority of both Aussie and U.S. TOGers are playing CoD at the moment. Any of those are a fine choice, but you are most likely to run into a fellow TOGer at any given time on any of the 3 CoD servers. Hope to see you soon!

Also why not have a look at Americas Army or Enemy Territory they are both free to download and are good games.

Being deeply involved in the LAN scene here in the Midwest I'd say mostly BF:V and UT2004, followed closely by CoD and Desert Combat.

No offense to Neurotic but I'd say don't bother with Wolf:ET, it's not that great...crappy graphics and animation ruined the experience for me. But some people like it I guess. LOL

Yes,

Free = pretty good deal, no matter where you're from. LOL

Yeah, as a free game, it's not that bad. But America's Army is better I'd say, if we were to compare free games...they're both good choices if you're on a budget!!

Been trying to use America's Army, but can't even register. Reviewing their forums, I believe they are working through some glitches right now. It let's me mess around in the training, but I figure why do it all now if I am going to have to do it again after it's fixed...or worse, I get through all the training and because I can't register, I can't play the real game...I'll look at CoD

Yes, I am interested, but as of 0930, 2 Aug, CST, it still isn't working right...and I've yet to get back my registration e-mail from Saturday...just tried registering again, but since it still shows ALL training complete, I'm thinking it is still a bit whacked. On the plus side, it no longer takes me a full minute to go from screen to screen)

On a side note, which of these military type games let you fly...is Battlefield the only series that lets you do that?

Downloaded a CoD demo, but doesn't appear to have flying, although I haven't gotten far into it yet. But even the site info talks about soldier/tank battles with no mention of flying...thanks, Twiz

Right now COD does not have any flying or road vehicles. Thats most likely talk about the COD updates/exspantion/COD2 thats supposed to come out this fall with vehicles.
Battlefield series does have planes, tanks, choppers and boats with play with as well as artiliery pieces.

I play both COD and BF:V right now and love them. I could, for some reason, not load/install AA. I have heard lots of good things about AA and would love to see it one day maybe. Not played ET at all. I will be getting BF:1942 soon I think as the WW2 theme fits me. I just wanna fly a corsair off a carrier...

So you have some great games to choose from I think. Hope to see you on one of the battlefields soon.
