Spleef tournament
 

Some people have expressed interest in having a spleef tournament. Sign up here, and I'll arrange pairings. I'll take registrations for a week, put the names in a hat, and post the pairings next Friday night Australian time. Registration deadline is Thursday, October 27, 21:00 UTC.Competition starts Saturday the 29th. Because we can't be sure to get a nice even ladder, I'll run round-robin double elimination. When I've posted the pairings, contact your opponent and agree on a time. Matches are best out of three falls, loser reports the results in this thread. Lose two matches and you're out. When all the matches have been run, I'll pair up the remaining competitors for the next round.

For added fun, post the agreed upon times so we can all come watch. :)


Edit: To be fair, it's only pseudo-round-robin if it's also double elimination.

There's no specific time. The registration deadline is when I get home from work next Thursday, 21:00 UTC. I'll post the pairings Friday morning, your time.

Couple of questions:

1. How is it played other than you try to make the other person fall? (Rules?)

2. What server will it be played on (this impacts on people who don't want to upgrade or downgrade their minecraft installs)?

Rules are simple. Shovels only, no crouching (holding shift so you don't fall off the edge of the block). The floor of the arena is dirt, and a diamond shovel will take out a dirt block in one hit. If it is physically impossible for the competitors to reach each other, they may put dirt back down on the arena floor. Otherwise, no building is allowed.

Sanctuary has a spleef arena already built, and is running the current official release of Minecraft. (1.8 )

Does this mean I need to complete the bloody roof?
