SpleeFTB
We want you ideas, dreams and suggestions to help us build the inaugural SpleeFTB.
After watching Bazz and Duck settle their arguments and power struggles in uncivilised PvP (Bazz - when will you learn Duck has god like powers?), Espesh and I felt it was time to bring Spleef to the FTB/Mindcrack world. But we need your help! In order to take full advantage of the FTB add-ons we wanted to devise a new variation on Spleef, with input from the TOG community on what you’d like to see. Ideas such as myst portals randomly located on the walls of a multi-layered Spleef game, which could send you either higher or lower (think snakes and ladders – you’d have to take a gamble when stepping through). Or perhaps even a multi-world game of Spleef within a game of Spleef (Spleef-ception – full credit to Espesh). Or even augmented Spleef with items that could be picked up at various levels (?jetpack). These are all just ideas Espesh and I have bounced off each other but we want to hear from you! So tell us what you think or what you’d like to see and get excited, because Spleef is coming to an FTB server near you! Hoathy and Espesh |

I would suggest utilising the redstone system (red power) with the ability to get a remote to activate pistons, or fire traps etc. the redpower remote system is incredible, maybe even a melee turtle or something
defiently dispencers with fire charges, lava and piston traps linked to buttons (some even bubi trapped) would be great, and you can change them easily just by changing the signal/frequency |
In a multi-floor spleef you could use the myst portals to make horizontal portals under the spleef floor - so that when the flooring under your feet breaks, you have a chance of falling into a portal instead of out of the arena, which could teleport you to your death or to a higher/lower floor.

I've built a PvP arena in frontier - anyone can check it out. From the top, in the spectator stands, it looks like this
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/80858415/hosted/arena1.jpg and when you're in the 'ring', it looks like this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/80858415/hosted/arena2.jpg See all those pressure plates on the floor? Step on one, and you get this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/80858415/hosted/arena3.jpg You'll see pistons fire that change the landscape just a little bit - enough to upset an archers aim, and a dispenser in each corner will fire an arrow or two. The best part is, some of those plates are fake - they do nothing - and the ones that are wired will fire based on a random number generator. Yep. Under the floor is a computer that outputs a random number and that will fire one, some, or all pistons/dispensers. Here is the underground computer/wiring. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/80858415/hosted/arena5.jpg Scary stuff but a learning experience. Anyone can have a poke around - make sure both players are 'ready' - that is both ready switches are down. Yup - the computer even has a master switch requiring both levers to be down. Here it is on Frontier. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/80858415/hosted/arena4.jpg Now this isn't spleef of course, but it took me probably 5 days to get that computer working with all the wiring. Happy to offer any knowledge that might be useful. |
Very nice Fox. Or nasty, depending on where you stand. I would be careful though, there was a shady dark figure I saw in one of the shots.

While this isn't strictly a game changing part, you could use the machines we have available to automatically rebuild the floors (maybe even during the game itself?)
It's also possible you could use a frame and frame motors to move an entire section of floor, maybe slowly drag it into a wall  But I don't know what effect all that moving frame would have on the server. Could be fun to find out :) |
