I guess I must be in the minority, because I don't think the hornet looks at all ugly.

Everyone is waiting for the updated brochure, the one that will present the upgrades of the Constellation, notably a military one, and possibly one for exploring and one for cargo.

It was clear from early on in development cycle that the Hornet would be the main military fighter in SC. That's why the Hornet was my 1st choice during the fundraiser. It would be a ship with fundamental backing from it's developers (as proven by the effort put into the Squadron 42 campaign and its reward system).

That said, if the goal is communal benefit, the answer to 'Hornet vs i325a' changes. A pack of i325a's will kill a Hornet. The question could be; -How can we consolidate as a operational group and make the best use of our numbers? (-Already addressed to a certain extent by creating this forum. Thank you Rickety!)
If the Hornet does not have the range or logistic support to operate where needed, using i325a may be the only option (although vulnerable to Vanduul fighters).

Personally I would love to see game economy that is able to support the Hornet's Kill-on-Demand capabilities. IF WHEN reaching the 15mill stretch goal, the Hornet pilots will be in for a celebration!

In general I am careful engaging in discussions like this, and I quote Ludy:
"By the way this is all throwing crap at a wall and seeing what sticks at release." -But until then; do not forget that we all have the voice to influence RSI and the outcome at release.

They look nearly the same, but the top image has a larger spoiler and VTOL rotors in the wings.

The toughest choice, Rogue vs Brawler.

Personally i like the look of the hornet, a combat vessel is rugged and practical it looks the way it does because of the task it has to perform.
it doesn't need sleek looks it must have thick amour and lots of hardpoints, cargo space is for ammunition, those ugly fans on the front keep the targeting systems cool that are working overtime tracking multiple targets.
Looking at the ship statistics its clear, this is a heavy fighter its designed to cruise up to a capital ship shrugging of turret fire and then disable its systems and engines with its massive fire power.
The 325a is clearly a light fighter that would get sawn in half pulling that of.
The big trade off of the hornet is its short legs it can't move without a carrier or refueling ships positioned along the route for beyond "horizon" attacks

So.....TOG Fleet Escort Carriers with Heavy Combat Hornets?
And maybe some 325a's built for long range stealth scouting?
