Default 325a vs' Hornet

My take on it is that the Hornet is overall a better pure fighter. It has a better default weapons, engine, and thrusters. I think it will out turn the 325A and have a higher in system speed. Once on target I think it will put out more damage. I can't really compare the shields as the stats are not out but I think they would be equal at a minimum and possibly a slight advantage to the Hornet.

What does the 325A have then besides the lower price? Well it has some cargo space and it will help in the early parts of the game when you might be able to run small trade missions to build up your standings. The other thing to notice is the weight difference. The 2T difference might not mean a whole bunch but considering the main jump engine is the same you would likely have a better fuel economy. This very well might allow you to jump farther before a refuel.

As of right now I think that hornets would be better served upgrading to get the best short range dogfighting ship possible. The 325A might be better served trying to max their distance and fuel economy. That way The hornets can launch from the Idris and the 325As can jump along with the Idris. This would give us the most protection any time we pulled the big boys out for an op.

(By the way this is all throwing crap at a wall and seeing what sticks at release. Way to early to really look at the stats but thought this would be a fun discussion.)

Another equally valid option might be to get a 315P (which presumably has excellent distance and fuel economy, given its intended role as explorer) and upgrade its weapons and shields.

Agree + has more survivability. Not that I want to promote our opponent but this is an excellent article on the matter...

The 325A can't install a Turret (Class 4). The Hornet however can install 2 class 4 hardpoints (though using up almost all its upgrade/cargo points.)

+1 for the Hornet, it is the Dedicated, Pure Best Dogfighter atm.

Now we should keep info known about the Hibernation 14million goal( The ability to make your ship in space go to a stasis before you log out, tucking in the rest compartment, and resuming your journey when you log back).
If it can only be done with ships having rest compartment, and not with a single sit ships, then ships like hornets, m50s, will have a disadvantage too.

In terms of escort, a Hornet may need to be hauled in, while the 325a is able to make a jump or two more before refueling.

Therefore in my opinion the fire-power upgraded Hornets should get priority to be stationed in corvettes over 325a.

This may be our first fleet group task - help to upgrade ASAP to out team of the dedicated/ SIM pilot experienced pilots with their Hornets to defend our corvettes.

Hornets are so ugly, but if, until the deadlock of 26 Nov for original and vet backers, there is no other ship, that is an equal, or better dogfighter, than the Hornet, we will have to succumb.

But all can change, we should keep a close eye to what the Avenger has to offer in the future, or if the 325a can be upgraded so that it holds it's own.

Theory wise, our squadrons should have most types of ships in stock for call of duty ops for ToG.

The 325a targeting system is supposed to be 1st class

They made the 325a so damn pretty....and the ugly hornet with fans on the sides a better dogfighter...why? Why doesn't the hornet get a less ugly design...how am i supposed to relish or enjoy a dogfight when i see piloting a tin can with fans?

Brochures are coming though...like the treatment the 300i got, i guess a commercial and the hornet's upgraded versions.

Rumor in the forums, has it, that Hornet or Freelancer is next and then the Constellation.

PS: I wanted so bad the 325a to be my default solo ship, or the 315p, but comparisons all favor the M50 and the Hornet, the mosquito that is and the tin can, not fair

Constellation already has a brochure, not sure if its official though. May be a fan made one.
