Cannot make everything sticky. Just to continue the discussion and keep it on the top !
My personal argument is copied from a private TOG forum:

I sincerely hope that for good crowd-funding game it would not be the case. I also think that with development of the "crowd-funding game community" such a behaviour will be frown upon and therefore not desirable.
Take for an example a capital ship pledge in Star Citizen
- more than 20 times the lowest possible pledge. I seriously do not envy the one who had the guts to step into the unknown
. It will take enormous effort to keep the ship operational and adequately manned not to mention the time & effort required to upgrade the weapons/engines and hope that on your first fully fitted voyage you will not be swarmed by zerg and lost all your upgrades.
We have 4/update 5
/ in TOG fleet
and it will take the coordination of all the community to keep them afloat. And I bet that you can be on one welcomed with open arms as the individual with capital ship will soon realise that AI will not replace the 10 player crew required. And you will get share of the profit (if any).
So for more money you do not have an advantage but instead an increased challenge:
fair trade in my opinion for the pledge.. "
