TOG - The Older Gamers

This game has been getting tremendous reviews, so I wanted to see if anyone here has played it and their thoughts on it. I'm a big fan of Stardock's games, way back to the original Galactic Civilizations, so I have a feeling this could be great.

However, I see the large-scale space battles and I'm instantly reminded of Homeworld. For many strategy fans, this would be a good thing, but I absolutely hated that game - the controls felt really clunky. However, I understand the AI is supposed to perform really well so this isn't as much of a concern.

Thoughts?

Played it.beat it,loved it.
Definately one of the best strat games I've come across.
The tech tree is a masterpiece of game design and the controls are very easy.
The tutorials are comprehensive and to be honest I found them boring but the actual gameplay makes up for it.
Be prepared for very long games.

I'm currently 8 hours into a game and I'm only half finished.(Once you've got the hang of it the smaller maps can be beaten in an hour or two but I like BIG maps)

I haven't played it online because i obtained a naughty copy(if you know what I mean) but I've played it via lan and it rocked.
If you like strat games and massive fleets of ships than it's a must have.

....That's not a bad writeup,Stardock should pay me for that.

I've got it and agree with Jimmeh. It's a great game, but I'm yet to really get the time to sink my fangs into it.

yes, it's a good game. There are a few threads around on it, which have more detailed responses on what people do and don't like on the game
