Just buy it from the US, there are plenty of places that will ship it and it will only take about a week two at most to get to your door. Oh and I forgot to mention it will likely end up about half a slab cheaper.

There will be no point in Australians ordering it from anywhere else, Bethesda have censored the game worldwide based on the Aussie version

That is really pathetic. As a gamer living in Australia you can but feel embarrassed that ONE man is now responsible for causing a game to be censored for the whole world.
Does the fictional drug use hamper the game play, in my opinion I prefer taking morphine then chems, why? Games to me are about immersion and immersion comes with realism. Given that the game is set post nuclear Washington it makes perfect sense to have references to real world narcotic and medicinal substances rather then fictional ones. Bottom line it's an illusion breaker, maybe a minor one but an illusion breaker nevertheless which is now emphasised by the fact that we "know" that it's censored. It's like having a dead pixel in your LCD, once you spot you will always look at it. A company like Bethesda which prides itself on it's ability to immerse their audience must be equally annoyed with this no doubt. And even more we will now end up with Michael Atkinson editions of future games as well. A sad day for gamers, a sad day for freedom of speech, expression and creativity. |

Nothing to stress about folks... it has been revealed that the edit was changing the name of a drug FROM Morphine to Med-X. This change is actually a good thing, not a bad thing... drugs in the Fallout universe have never used realworld names opting for names like Rad-X, etc. This change is actually making Fallout 3 more canonical rather than less. While Australia was the only region to specifically request the edit, other regions did also question Bethesda's choice of a real world name for the drug. In the end Bethesda realised that previous Fallout games had never used real world drugs and that keeping the name Morphine was probably worse for the game is it served no purpose and was in direct contrast with the names of the other drugs that appear in the game.
As such everyone is getting the same version of Fallout 3 and everyone will be injecting Med-X instead of Morphine. What is the concerning thing is that the fact do sort of implicate this being something of a publicity stunt by Bethesda. Why would they want to call it morphine when the game fiction not only does not support the name but actually would suggest it be folly for such a name to be used. Did Bethesda always consider changing the name to Med-X? Just being a conspiracy theorist here. ![]() |

if that is true, it's one of the most retarded excuse for banning a game I've seen. I'm 'injecting' *insert drug name here* rather than morphine somehow suddenly makes it all different? Idiots.
