Sort of not happy about the FPS view and taking out of some of the adult stuff. Will definitely be waiting to see what it is like before I even come close to spending a cent.
Have sort of seen this whole game as a way to test out the MMO interface.....still not happy. Should have been Fallout: "enter new name here" like the Brotherhood of Steel game that come out.....don't like 3 being used when it is cutting back on shit. |

Yeah I hear you mate... but change can sometimes be the very best of things. Honestly, if they made another isometric "repeat" like Van Bruen was going to be, it would not only be self limiting to fans only, but it wouldn't be doing anything new. Sure it'd support widescreen, it'd have all the bells and whistles you'd like, maybe even in full 3D... but it would no doubt be much the same as F2. Not that there's much wrong with that, but we're seeing someone embrace change, and for me, that's worth waiting to see before judging.
Now for me, I never got into Fallout in a big way. It was just too "different" for me, and just too damn hard. Never learned the whole RPG thing properly. So when I played Oblivion, (RPG-lite?) I loved it. It's undeniable that Oblivion appealed to many more people than it would have, had it been hard core. Plenty of RPG fans out there hate Oblivion and what it stands for, but for me, it's simply superb. And couple that with the way Bethesda allow and support modding, you've got almost unlimited potential. So what I'm hoping to see with Fallout 3, is the "openness" of Oblivion, with the hard sci-fi of Fallout, coupled with major mod-ability from the community. This is being built from the ground up to run on consoles and PC, so they obviously are aiming for a huge audience... it will be RPG-lite to some degree, but they've also taken on lessons learned from their experience with Oblivion. This new title, for me, holds more promise than any other in current development. Only time will tell if it works though ![]()

What I found interesting is the short reference to McCarthy's The Road.
To answer your question, I'm guessing that it's not the game as much as the story, characters, and use of retro that matters. Those are the ones that impressed me as much as the game when 1 and 2 came out; it probably helps that I'm into post-apocalyptic media. |

I'm so excited about this game I can hardly contain myself. I'm hopeful that the first person perspective and 3D engine will actually enhance the whole Fallout experience rather than detract from it. Imagine actually feeling like you were wandering the streets of the Hub... the LA Boneyard... Gecko!!
What I worry a bit about is the combat system. Since the engine is a tweaked Oblivion engine (or did that get shelved? I haven't seen anything...) I wonder how some of the perks will be put into play. And will there be a Bloody Mess Perk? (Not that I ever took that one, since I had better things to spend my points on... but still!) Oh yes, I can't wait!

Still the tweaked Oblivion engine I believe, but damn, it must be a hell of a tweak! Full DX10 compliance to boot!
![]() Very little in the way of media been released - I hope thats a good thing! ![]()
