I installed the demo and was not majorly impressed. Surprising as it is from the same team that did Mafia which was Brilliant!

It was about time a games developer made a class standard game of the Vietnam conflict that happened in 1967, and that’s just what they did. With only the multiplayer aspect up and running of this game, I’ve played and fallen much in love with the demo release. The style of play, lush green forest, clears running streams and the ambient effects surrounding you. Working in squads of VC (Vietnam Communists) and US Marines there are several game types to play. The obligatory DM mode (fun if your into that sort of thing), CTF and AGL with more modes due on the full release of this product. Forget all that the rush in and shoot until everything drops, this game requires tactics, the use of cover be it hiding behind rocks, within the bamboo shoots or fox hole of a felled tree. The aim function allows you to stay behind cover then quickly come from behind it or over it and take a snap shot as you hear the bullets of enemy fire whizzing past you ears or ricocheting of rocks around you. Your footsteps will crush the dried leaves that cover the forest floor, water swelling about your feet making the use of cover all that more needed. If you’ve not yet played the demo, I’d go grab it now, although it weighs in at a hefty 76Mb and the patch 0.97 at a mere 10Mb its still well worth the look.

Telstra has the demo and patch. I'm going to d/l and get into it. I'd enjoy a game that requires a little more tactics and stealth and a little less counter-strike kiddies.

If Telstra hosts it, maybe TOG can start a new division?

I d/l mplayer demo and I liked it. The environment is so cool. There aren't any bots yet and I could only find US servers (high ping) but I ran around and got a 4-2 kill death ratio on my first outting

The sound is incredible. You walk through a stream, (which flows, as in water moves) and you hear splashing noises. Crickets and birds make noises all the time and add to that jungle sense. The folliage blocks you field of vision so encounters are usually close to mid range. There are lots of snipers nests though so don't worry about that.

I was lying behind a fallen tree stump just reading my map and getting a bearing when I heard foot steps run past. Yep! The crunching of leaves as an enemy boot stepped on them was so cool. Naturally I popped up with gun at the ready and shot him from behind!

A lot of people do the mad rush about and storm the flag thing but they get mowed down pretty quickly by a well placed machine gun nest. This game forces you to employ stealth and flanking moves.

There aren't many game types atm. Team death match (yawn), rescue the pilot and capture the flag seems to be it but this is on a par with other games (BF is streets ahead with capturable spawns imo). You have many different weapons and classes like BattleField but I don't think they are all present in the demo.

This game is definately on my buy-list. Any game that forces teamwork and stealth gets a good grade from me!

America's Army, way better and free!
The new 1.6 patch is great, they even updated the gfx engine to the latest unreal one, a completely new 360 meg download!

But well worth it, can't get enough of that game!

They are both different but both fun and each have a style of gameplay that compliment each other and make the real FPS player feel whole!

Now didn't I say that nicely
