Default New Game Start Information

I was going to say that we start the NWN modules off this week, and that's still going to happen, but I would like to change how it's done slightly.

My proposal is that a few guys nominate themselves as servers, and players put thier hands up to join the server in question. Then the players in that group decide amongst them selves what they want to play, and the rules.

This means also that those few players that can't make every week, may find a server with a space and can bring in thier character. I don't think that characters should be upped in levels if they join a group of higher level characters, they will advance quickly any way, and this means the player can go back to a lower level game if they need or want to later without losing levels.

I am going to nominate myself as a server for NWN this time, and will be running the 5 part series of adventures. They can be found in the other thread here: http://www.theoldergamers.com/forums...opic.php?t=546

As per our poll, it looks like 4 is a good number of players so should be the limit, try 5 if you want, but 4 should be good for most modules.

Not every server needs to run the same game, and I think players should feel free to move about. If there is a call for a HCR module, I have the Nordock Server (same as GA's) and will run it instead, and it will be open continually (24/7).

Server guys nominate here. Players nominate your preferred server.

Bear, if you don't mind my input...

You'll get it anyway.

Let's not start this week. Let's not start next week either.

Reason being, Janus and Solis are out for both weeks as they are away in Brisbane and Sydney. Cailith is down the Gold Coast this weekend.

That's already a few of us out. Plus the fact that we are allowed a week or two of lull time to discuss a good module to play will make all the difference.

I thoroughly enjoyed EOTB. That started because we had a good discussion of the module we should play - pros and cons etc.

Let's not rush into things IMO.

Hold off a week or two, let us regroup before firing up again.

Sounds good.

Also, with the BF match this week it will screw me about as well.

Let's make it 2 weeks, giving everyone a break and time to coordinate.

In the mean time to let people have SOMETHING, I am going to run the Nordock from my server...

Details to follow.

Mmm.. Nordock.

GA runs it as a persistant world. Hard Core Rules - no resting just wherever. You can only rest in areas designated "safe" for resting.

Had a quick look around Nordock when Warbear had it up on his server a little while ago.

It seems you can pick up "skills" from various NPCs around the place. I found a bowyer/fletcher - and an item in your inventory is updated with your current skill/s level.

What the actual skills do I have no idea. Didn't muck around in it for long enough. I brought in my lev 14 Monk, and slaughtered a few guards, ran outside and killed a few bugs, then left.

Looks to be a pretty big world though.

I'll put my hand up as a player. Don't mind whether it's this week or next - as I'm not leaving for Brisbane until Saturday.

I'm interested in the 5 part series, so I'd like to join Warbear's server. Reading up on the module a little bit it certainly looks interesting. Call shotgun on a cleric.

Well i have only one space left on my server then, though Mousie might not count as he will be restricted in when he can play.

I might make him a 5th floating player then and have Janus, Me and 2 others and play the 5 part series.

As for Nordock, it is a Hard Core Rules Persistent World that means you need to have food and a pallet or bed to sleep on, and can only do it once a day, so mages become VERY difficult without any other class to back them up. Death is permanent unless the party can get a cleric to do it, clerics and mages can make scrolls by sacraficing the XP required to do so, and the skills allow you to do other things. Though I too never got anywhere with them...

I love HCR, but they are hard to get used to and difficult to play in. Morte would find it painful.

Is there any point to Nordock though? I've tried to get a char running on that GA server but it just dies and costs too much to get going again. Plus I never really ever worked out what the point was (never really saw anything other than some firebeatles that just kill me). I guess playing as a group might be different ?

Speaking of other perhaps shorter modules - I've just been going through some of one mods at NWVault - is there any better places than that to get modules?. At work me and the other tech have been playing Tomb of Horrors all last week (yes it was a very dull weeke at work ) and that was fun but it perhaps only has 6-8 hours of play and then it is finished again. I've just pulled down Throne of Bloodstone to have a look (supposed to let you level past 20 and up to 30) to see if it would be a good mod but unfortunately I don't live long enough to get past the initial 'find the castle stage Any other suggestions of mods to try and where to get them ?

Cheers
Morte'
