I came across this mod quite by accident but it is incredibly awesome so I thought I'd share it with you. It is a mod for Civ4:Beyond the Sword (there is a mod patch for the new BtS patch already).

Basically, it takes the game to the Dungeons and Dragons universe - and it plays incredibly well. Gone are the Ages etc, along with many of the standard concepts, to be replaced with D&D concepts.

There are a heap of different races that each have very different strategies. For example, the elf races can't research or use siege equipment and get forest bonuses. And the barbarians range from marauding groups of goblins and lizardmen through to orc groups and dragons that end up establishing their own empires.

I had been looking for a replacement game for Age of Wonders, and this is definitely it. Heartily recommend it.
