WAR / TOG guilds?
Hi Guys - recently found out about WAR and have become VERY excited by the prospect. I was playing Warhammer back in the early '80s when first it spawned.
What is the situation with reference to a TOG guild? I have been looking on the WAR forums and there seems to be a lot of guild preparation, I have been dabbling with a guild called Invicto-Incarnate ... supposedly for 'mature' players, however the average age is about 17.
Considering that I am 38, there is a reason I joined TOG!
So, can anyone advise me?
I plan on having a chaos mage, and perhaps a chosen ALT.
Cheers

I think it's pretty clear there will be a TOG guild at release. What shape that takes depends a bit on their server structure and rulesets, but there's a lot of "old fogey interest" as I like to call it

I get the distinct feeling that forming a WAR guild from TOG members wouldn't one of the hardest things that's been accomplished. There's a lot of buzz about the game on the forums. I for one am definitely looking forward to playing in a TOG based guild for this game.

Most likely we will be on 2 servers, one for the good guys and one for the bad. I intend to play mostly Ork, with some Chaos just to be different. If I was to play good, then it would be Dwarf.
I think this is going to be THE GAME. I will even predict that it will spawn a migration from WOW and the fields will be full of WAR!!!! Can you just imagine a 1000 greenskins coming across a valley. Aside from the lag, it would be an awesome sight. hehehe I just hope their server architecture is highly scalable.

I like the focus they're taking towards large-scale PvP. I for one will welcome the opportunity to play a game designed from the ground up around PvP instead of having it tacked on as so many others have tried to do.
Vanguard PvP has become a disappointing mess, frankly.

Release is still a while away, but I don't forsee anything occuring for TOG to not have a guild presence on release. We already have a small presence in the beta.
We wouldn't be on two servers, but we would require two guilds.
Most commonly with MMO's TOG has separated onto multiple servers to facilitate the PVP/PVE divison. Most other games have the servers designed for different rulesets so force this.
Mythic has been quite clear on the fact that RVR (Realm vs Realm) and PVE occur together so there will be no forced separation.
A division based on good/evil and how seriously TOG would want to take that will have to wait on more information to be released about how that will be implimented in game. ie should a TOG member be allowed to have a character in both the good guild and evil guild? (assuming the game allows that). And should that mean that the forums be restricted so the good guys don't get to know our evil plans to kill them.
What do you mean they already know we want to kill them?
Damn, those elves are tricky. I am sure I only wrote my plan on this scrap of dried flesh here. Hey! who stole my scrap of human flesh?
PS, Beta reopens soon (yay), and the guilds that were accepted into beta will finally be allowed in. November News

I seem to remember hearing that RvR characters would be implemented so that you could not have, say, a greenskin and a dwarf on the same server. That would imply TOG needing to have a presence on more than one server as I for one will want to try all sorts

That is what I remember as well. A guild won't be able to be on both sides on the same server, so spliting the forum wouldn't make any difference. In some regards, it would help to play both sides so you get a feel for the layout of the other side.

I hope we don't have to split the player base too many times though. We've had trouble in the past with PvP MMO's failing due to lack of numbers. It would be great to start with just one TOG 'good' server and one 'evil' server, but I don't know whether they're planning to enforce european/oceanic/usa separation, which would make it even more difficult. I know AoC seems to be going that route.
Anyone know how WAR will handle international players?

I have just done a bit of searching, and essentially the stated information is that nothing has been decided yet. Server Rules 10/26/2007

If that isn't a good enough answer, well, I'm sorry but I can't talk about what I haven't decided on yet.

The thread is just one big flame fest, so I havn't really read much of it.
What we can concider is how other games have done it.
In WoW, a horde member can't join a alliance guild, but they can have a second character that is from the alliance side join that guild on the same server. Do they have 'inside information' about what goes on for the other side? Sure, but it doesn't effect anything.
Assuming the same situation, where you are not restricted to only having good characters on one server if that is what you created first, then wouldn't it make sense to have two different TOG guilds created on the same server?
If you do have 2 TOG 'opposing' guilds created on the same server, then would we as TOG create our own restrictions to keep ourselves from seeing our opposing guilds plans? (which is what I ment by splitting/securing the forums)
Unless the game and guilds were ultra-competitive I don't see that as being required, and personally wouldn't like it. When I play these games I like to play every side and class I can
As Bassie pointed out, it can cause real difficulties if we try and split ourselves up too much. In WoW we have a very large number of players and have lots of guilds because of that. Most other MMO's that TOG has a presence in don't have enough players to support that.
