I played DOAC for about2 years. I had a pally and a necro both topped out. The necro was uber for farming and gold and the pally was good for quests and dungeons but in PVP they both stank. One of the reasons I left DOAC was the realm v realm, which while good in some areas (loved the ballista and catapults!) it was bad when you went into combat. The reason - stun+root +nuke = death - over and over again. Some classes were just so over powered that you just got rooted and mobbed all the time. It got really boring so I left.

That said, I did like the mass battle RVR where it was complete chaos. Then again - archers - one shot and you are dead. What DOAC had in originality it lacked in game character balance - IMHO

Yup IP and and purge were great - until the ext caster stunned you and rooted you one second after you had used it

i would seriously not go back to daoc, things have changed, and not for the best. the seriously low populations, and realm hopping for just a couple of reasons. its better to just remember it as it was, it will never be like that again.

from all that i have seen, you need not fear the massive CC spells, or being ganked by stealthers. it would seem as though the RvR is more balanced, and geared primarily for use of its collision detection mechanics. nothing ruins immersion faster than having to watch your character be stunlocked to death.
