Sigh
I hate waiting.
I have been thinking about going back to Daoc for a couple of years now. No pvp mmo to date has done RvR like Daoc. Now that I know Warhammer is going to have RvR combat, I am just very impatient.
from the screens I have seen it looks a whole lot better then Daoc, but it still seems to have the underlining approach to the daoc gfx engines, just better.
So hurry up Q2 2008, I am waiting!
Congrats again to the TOG people in beta, lucky, lucky, lucky.

Tell you what, if some how I get my hands on an invite I can give out, I will give you first crack at it, if some one haven't already.

D'oh! Should've gotten in line earlier
The Ms. and I both have our fingers crossed about this one, it looks like it'll be pretty impressive and hopefully as well done for this generation as DAOC was for the prior one.

Yeah, Camelot had a bit of influence on games were still just seeing take affect still. Strangely, alot of folks who played WoW pvp that I have talked with have no idea what Daoc is, so they assume WoW pvp is the be all end all of fun in Mmorpgs.
So little do they know. 40v40 AV is nothing at all. I loved a nice 100vs400 at Dun Bolg, or just a weekend evening in emain macha.
We got bored on Percival once, before SI came out, and got 800+ from each realm, and met out by Dun Bolg. 2 minutes into it, it was getting fairly laggy (there was a ton of bodies and broken ballistas). We crashed the entire server about 3 minutes into the entire affair.
We did it again the next year as well (the server still crashed, but it lasted about 5 min in).
Hopefully Warhammer is more prepared server wise for a nice 2000 person battle.

I agree Deadfyre I loved DAOC and nothing has come close to the feeling of PvP DAOC and hopefully War gets that feeling back.

I heard that. Some of my best game experiences ever involved DAOC RvR. No other game has really come close in terms of PvP. Of course, its biggest downfall was the fact that battles were almost always one sided. There was nothing to stop one realm from becoming horribly overpopulated, and overwhelming the other 2 realms with sheer numbers.
In spite of that fact though, we managed to get involved in some truly epic battles. Assaulting keeps was my favorite - on the rare occasions that you were evenly matched, and it took all the skill and teamwork you could muster to overcome the enemy and capture their stronghold. Those were some good times.
Sure, Mythic made a ton of mistakes, but when it comes right down to it, they made an incredible game. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us in WAR.

Well I signed up to beta with six email accounts and no luck.
So who do you have to sleep with in the beta team to get an invite?

Waiting, waiting, waiting
I too enjoyed DAoC more than any other MMORPG, even kept my account open long after I stopped playing hoping it might help get me a beta invite (no such luck)
Hehe Emain, that brings back some memories. Nothing better than running out to the MF in the original layout as a solo cleric (with a few stealthers along) and wiping all those wanna be gankers.
Mez / Stun / Smite FTW!
I look forward to running with all my fellow Togger's in WAR.
