Warhammer vs AoC
I was wondering, what is your draw to Warhammer vs AoC?
I've looked at AoC...I like the idea of the area you can conquer as a guild and build your "fort" on, for better lack of right word, hehe
I haven't looked into Warhammer much, what makes it a good game to you?

First and foremost, I'm sure there are lots of us who are kind of quietly eyeing both and haven't formed terribly firm opinions as they're not out yet. I have a friend in AoC beta and was interested until he started griping about it's combat system being 'too combo-laden' (I generally trust his views) and now that they've revamped it my interest is re-piqued.
On the Warhammer side, for me it's partly the subject matter, which I generally find very rich and like better than Conan's . . but it's mostly the fact that I've got faith in Mythic to build off of DAOC's very good RvR experience and also the fact that they've been hitting hard on two of what I see as fatal PvP flaws, which are . .
1) PvP and PvE being unfriendly allies - Warhammer's focus on putting the experiences side-by-side from level one while forcing people to do neither is very refreshing.
and
2) unbalanced PvP - I've always found the MMO leveling system awkward for PvP, the mechanic is designed to allow you to quickly outlevel NPC enemies but that also means you outlevel PC ones. Making PvP generally only balanced at level cap. Warhammer's 'RvR tiers' and the infamous grief-unfriendly-chicken-morph really gives me hope that they're resolving that one as well.
Of course, until they're out it's terribly hard to judge (heck, it's hard to judge four months after a game's released). I may end up going gonzo for AoC. .but right now I've got a bit more faith in Warhammer.

I haven't developed onions on either one of them.
I reserve that right for which ever one I get to play 1st.
I hold the most hope for Warhammer though, as I have a Camelot background.
I miss RvR something terrible.

This is a hard one I admit but I am leaning towards WAR right now cause of AoC server seggrigations. Me being a beta tester of WAR gives me more of an idea what to expect and although I like what I see, it is also another elves and orcs MMO.
AoC I might enjoy cause it sounds much like Shadowbane was and that game I enjoyed a lot. What turned me off was the unchained griefing going on in Shadowbane.

Thanks for the comments. I had to go try to figure out what RvR was If I understand it..Realm vs Realm? So, if you join up with the orcs then your part of that Realm and you fight everyone else? Is that correct?
I tend to go for games with characters that are human mostly, or sort of resemble humans. I think that is part of why I didn't get into WoW. Not sure I could do an elf or orc or the like.
I'll probably give AoC a try later on.

My 2 cents.
Warhammer is a world filled with massive battles fought on a daily basis. Think of it like this Warhammer world is like World War 1 and 2 and Vietnam all into one. WoW was pretty much the First Gulf war.
Age of Conan is well set in a time period of Conan and those books were about Conan so not sure how that will play out. If they were gonna use a book setting should have been Age of the Dragon Reborn but thats me =p

Pretty much, though usually RvR implies some grand battle.
In the case of DAOC each of the realms was essentially at three points of a triangle, and in the center all three sides did battle over keeps and such for reward as well as power for their realm [horribly simplified, but I think that catches the spirit]
In Warhammer Online the two 'sides' play in something akin to side-by-side zones, and where they meet they can interact, so even at low levels you can be fighting with the other side, but only against people of similar levels, and even if you don't fight real humans many of the quests on the PvE 'edge' of the map contribute to the greater war effort, and success can grant your side various benefits while you have an advantage over the other side.
(someone actually in beta can correct anything I'm off on anything or miss something really important, I just read the newsletters and such)
It's got a very different feel from FFA type PvP or the less strategic PvP we saw in games like WoW, and IMHO is really refreshing.

The griefing in Shadowbane was tolerable I guess, the farming a bit lame, but the pvp was nice.
Nice to hear good thoughts on WH.

Far WAR RvR/PvP, it's not like anything out there right now. True you never have to pvp and you can still help the RvR war going out there by doing special PvE quests that will further aid the war for your side.

As these are two of the biggest MMOs to come out in sometime, I'm very interested in what people have to say on the two games.
I've applied for both betas but haven't gotten into either one. I know that combat is what is supposed to make AoC 'different', but isn't WAR basically a WoW clone? (especially in combat, questing and genre)
