What do you think is the Best/Worst of WAR?
Best
* I'm really looking forward to DaoC style keep warfare, controlling zones, and the culmination of the war effort with fighting over the cities.
* Public quests, I think these are a great idea and sound like a lot of fun.
* The Tome, I'm going to have so much fun going for tome unlocks!
* Turning lowbie gankers into chickens, Bwahahahahahah.
Worst
* I like pvp, but I also like pve raiding and have a long history of doing so (as healers, tanks, melee and caster dps in WoW). While there is PvE content (esp with the public quests) I haven't heard much in the way of more involved raiding. While it does exist, I can only offhand recall one encounter being mentioned outside of the PvP orientated versions.

DAoC was really weak on PvE content when it launched. Mythic learned and improved it somewhat over time. Killing the Dragon, raiding Sidi, some of the TOA raids were fun and the loot was great. The down side was inevitably if you had enough for a multi group PvE raid someone with dual accounts would tell the other realms and they would go for your Relics since your high lvl char's were tied up in a raid.
In WAR it seems that the PvE content they have developed first is all pointed to RvR as that it is the end game. There certainly seems to be room for cool raid scenarios in PvE but they need to make the game work first.

I agree with your Best list. The campained zone control is something I have no previous experiance with in any game. Looking forward to find out if it is as awsome as described.
You can't exactly turn someone else into a chicken though. That is something they do to them selves by their own stupidity. I have been chickened once due to a bug. A chaos chicken is sooo coool. And by cool I mean Eeuuww. That is one grouse looking chicken
I don't think your worst point should be too much of a problem. The game does have itself seperated pretty well with full PvE and RvR content from lvl 1 onward.
And you might have missed it, but back in January's Dev log, they talked/mentioned/hinted about the non-RVR dungeons unlocked if you control cities.
Quote:
<~DelmarWynn> Mandor: no comment at this time unless Gabe wants to hint at the city dungeons which aren't RvR (aka DF)
<@[WAR]Gabe> sure
<@[WAR]Josh> haha
<@[WAR]Gabe> Cities will have dungeons
<@[WAR]Josh> THAT'S no question.
<@[WAR]Josh> It's a BATTLE STATION!!!
<@[WAR]Gabe> if you own the city
<@[WAR]Gabe> then you have access to them
<@[WAR]Gabe> if you siege the enemies city then you will get access to their dungeons
<@[WAR]Gabe> i.e. Altdorf sewers

No idea if these are going to be Raids or not, but owning the oppositions cities is going to be no small achievement, and if this is the reward from doing that, I wouldn't expect it to be a solo location.

Hahahahah the Orc-a-pault, good call Hardz!
BlackIce I don't think those are really raid instance dungeons though, as a tour of Altdorf (sp?) I was in showed the entrance to one and the quest to go in and investigate. I can't really suggest many examples as I don't know the Warhammer world very well, but I think the one they mentioned was some undead kingdom where you fight your way up to kill a warhammer-famous undead king?

Plus: 98% of all PvE content is 1 party content (6 man), DAoC style RvR system, Loot system only rewards you with items specific for your class (even random drop loot).
Minus: The king encounter in each city is a 24 man raid, I would have been happier with a Public quest personally, I am not fond of raids. When a King is caputred and taken to an enemy city they do not get him back till they successfully attack the opposing city, if your on a losing team this would suck.
I could go on and on but those were the big ones

Oh yeah, don't even get me started with the loot system and lack of drops in WOW I suffered. Needless to say, the odds were in the one chance in millions and there were more than a few examples of those I could cite.
I was wondering about the whole city being occupied thing and how that would affect the realm if they couldn't get it back. I figured they'd just make it hard for the enemy to hold onto or something.
Also wondering how the BG's will affect world pvp, very easy to just stand around a battlemaster and queue up for instant action.

As I said Reoh, I don't know what they are aiming at setting these dungeons at, since testers have not seen them yet. My only real point is that I wouldn't rule out raid level encounters from being a part of the game unless the devs directly announce it won't be present. I have already seen some encounters go from 2 people difficulty up to requiring dozens in between test sessions. It isn't that hard for them to change difficulties around, and nobody but the devs know what their goals are except themselves.
They have 6 more months to finalise these decisions to make it the best they can.

I was watching a video where they stated that they were trying to avoid raid encounters as much as possible, so most of the PvE content is 6 man (1 party). Coming from a raiding guild in WoW this makes me sad, it was what kept me playing long after the 5 man content got stale.
For me.
Best: RvR
Worst: No playable undead on release.

That's good news BlackIce!
Smoke, if you think about it most of the group content in WoW isn't raid based either, there's way more single group instances and outdoor group encounters than Raid's, so long as there's a few tier's of raidwork with worthwhile rewards (they have stated that encounters like city raids will have the BEST gear) it'll all be good!
