Well, it could be one and they have multiple server's to service that one "shard" of the game.

Well I will now play Warhammer, just out of principle that EA/Mythic have finally shown the Oceanic region the love that it so desperately deserves after all these years.
I hope other games follow suit and start to seriously consider this area viable for server placement. Especially since FunCom were considering the idea, but as usual, never followed through.

i hope this leads to a trend.
blizzard usually try and copy anything in the MMO market that works so i hope that this aussie based server for WAR is a success.
in most MMO's i don't usually pick a melee class with PvP in mind. it's usually unconfortable trying to do positional attacks when the enemy is 1-2 meters off to the side due to ping differences to the US.
this may be the first MMO where i have full options to consider for all classes to PvP with

I have never been in a situation where I have been able to play a game like this without a min ping of 250ms-350ms. I am excited to know how these games play. I have never been in a good situation, so don't know what to compare it to. A slow ping is just always the way it is, and we have to live with it. I am wondering how it will effect my opinions of other games.
A lot of concepts I just put down to gameplay mechanics, may actually turn out to be related to latency issues. ie they attack, you take damage, may in fact turn out to be they attack, you react and attempt to dodge the attack.
The ability to have a server locally, and to play the game as designed has made me happy.

There was some talk that even if there were Aussie servers available, some .au Toggers wanted to stay with the NA servers for 24 hours RvR coverage. Is this still the case now that it's offical we will have .au servers? I know Marishta and I will want to go with good ping rate.

I'm happy to go where ever the most toggers do. A strong guild will be more important than ping, but with most PvE players in AoC playing the Oceania flagged server maybe we can have both?

Or we could have the US players join us for a change and play on our server with a little extra latency

I expect I'd still play on a US based server. There are quite a few friends I have played with for over a decade from the Americas and Europe and the US servers have always served as a good meeting point. It's why I've always been fairly indifferent to whether servers were actually based here. I just always have to talk 'em into playing where we are *hehe*
