Default Assassin's Creed

Been playing this for a few days and I think it's a pretty cool game. Reminds me a lot of the old Thief series on the PC (which I loved). Awesome graphics and the environment is absolutely huge. The sword fighting is fun and I like how you can grab people and throw them into the path of oncoming attackers, etc. Helps a lot when you are fighting multiple enemies. Controls take a while to get used to but the character movement and interaction with crowds is really well done. For example, depending on how you have treated people in the crowd will determine whether they help or hinder you when trying to run from guards.

I've only done a few of the missions but I've also spent a lot of time mucking around and just killing random innocents and then trying to escape. Lotsa fun! Cool horse riding action too and you can attack from horseback as well. There are also a lot of "side" missions but these seem to be about finding hidden flags, and saving villagers, etc.

It seems that you could probably complete the game reasonably quickly if you just went straight for the kill on missions but it's more fun to do all the preparation / scouting and side missions first and this will extend the life of the game as well.

Look forward to playing some more. Anyone else had a go yet?

I have got it and I find it fun, movement is rather good. But I also got Mass Effect which is taking up my time instead of AC.

In the same position as Incise here, played a bit of it but knocking off Mass Effect first. Have enjoyed what I played though. Graphics are excellent, love how authentic the cities look. Decent storyline so far too although I was surprised they went the near future looking into the past thing.

Sort of in the same boat...had to choose between Mass Effect and AC with one going on the Christmas list and Mass Effect won. I'm really looking forward to giving it a try though. I loved Thief and everything I've read makes me sure I'm going to enjoy this one.

I'll be getting this on Saturday, they were all sold out last night. Can't wait though, it sounds awesome. I'm a huge fan of stealth/action games. Mass Effect has been put on hold since I also got GHIII last night too. So many great games, so little free time.

It seems the whole "future" approach will open the game up for sequels. I hear it could be a trilogy?

A fun thing I discovered last night is that while being chased along the rooftops I was able to grab a pursuing guard and throw him off the roof. Not good for him at 4 stories up. This gave me extra time to escape while other guards stopped chasing me to check the splatted guard.

Been playing this all day, it's a lot of fun, very open. It's like GTA3 meets Theif, love it. The story and the voice acting seem fairly solid too. I'm not sure why it got crappy reviews from 1UP and IGN, but I think Gabe form PA was on the money when he said most major review sites had too many games to review in the lead up to xmas and didn't take the time to enjoy this for what it is.

With the reviews I think it would be that they played the game nonstop finishing it as soon as possible. The combat in Assassin's Creed is fairly simplistic so after an 8hr day of it they probably had enough. I only play an hour or so a day so it doesn't get old.

OK got the game and I have to say - it is good, very bloody damn good. The ability to move between the buildings, jump, walk on roofs.... etc etc is absolutely great. I love this game. The only thing I wish to have now is the MP version of this game

Ah Alchera, +1 for Assassins Creed!
My number two game to buy shortly! Also a fan of the Thief series.

I have to heartily agree with Drac's comments regards to Gabe's insight in on the media reviewers out there. Since reading Gabe's rant/blog, PAX gained a lot more respect in my eyes.
