Default Burnout Paradise

downloaded the demo from xbox live the other night, damn this looks fun. Spent more time driving around the place discovering all the ramps and driving like a maniac through traffic. The super slow-motion fender benders are always fun to watch too

Anyone else looking to get this game when it comes out? Looks like it will be quite fun to play against others (and hearing them swearing like a sailor when they get side swiped into a bus).

It's quite likely I'll get it.

Nabbed it yesterday and it is indeed fun. I drove around for two hours not really racing but crashing into stuff and finding some of the hidden collectibles (gates, jumps, billboards). My only beef is that they removed split-screen racing which bummed my wife out to the point where she won't even touch it.

You're kidding! I thought I'd finally be getting a decent 2 player smashy car game (Flatout: Ultimate Carnage is only 1 player). DAMN IT.

Well, its 2 player if you each have your own xbox and copy of the game... But yeah, its really disappointing. I'm holding on to my copy of Burnout: Takedown just for that purpose.

The decline of (non-FPS) split-screen capable games is starting to bug me.

I played the demo and wasn't overly impressed with the free-roaming or crashes. I've been a Burnout fan for a while now, and like Arep I still have my Burnout 3 on hand for when I need a fix of pure Burnout.
Is it just the demo, or are crashes weaker than before? Every time I hit something the front end crumpled the exact same way and the windshield blew out in a very unspectacular way. Is there even a crash mode? Are the cities all as flat as the demo? If the demo was intended to hook me, it failed miserably.
Normally I like free-roaming games, but when it comes to racing, I'd rather just get into the action instead of cruising to find it.

Its actually just the demo...for the most part. In the real game, after winning your first 4 events, you can hit both shoulder buttons before you crash and start Showtime mode. There you crash into as many cars as you can using your boost to bounce around while you try to set damage and length of crash records. Each road has a record you can break.

Its kinda fun but I missed the thinking involved with the last Burnout where you had to find the best angle, car and speed to beat the records.

Another minor disappointment with Paradise...when you unlock a car after an event you have to find it in the city and smash it in order for it to become yours. That's a cool concept. However, I found that if you stop somewhere in the city the car will eventually come to you. Takes the fun out of hunting them down...

I still like the game but, as one review I read said, it could have been so much better.

I got the full version (EB rang me yesterday) and played it last night. It's awesome fun. I played the demo and was unimpressed, however, the full game is great fun. I'd recommend getting it for sure. If you're really worried, rent it - but personally, I don't thing the demo gives you a fair idea of the full game.

Multiplayer was an absolute blast. For example I joined an 8 player game last night and one of the challenges was to get everyone to meet at a certain point and then take it in turns jumping over everyone elses car. Great stuff.

My gamertag is Doctor Fro

Look forward to seeing you guys in Paradise City

I'll be getting it, but probably for the PS3. I played the demo on both and they looked identical to me, but I'd prefer the PS3 version as my 360 has become inordinately loud recently.
