Just a quick note to say I will be off XBL for a little while. The drive in my Elite died and I am waiting for it to be fixed.

I hope they don't take long or I may never return from my PS3 lol.

Only took a week and a bit. I am really impressed by how fast it was. They even gave me a free month of Live Gold.

my xbox got a hardware failure last night. "E74" - one red ring

I got an extended warranty from Myer on it, so taking it back for repair / replace.

Thats why im glad i have two xboxs so i didnt have to miss out while my Elite was getting fixed. Will suck bad if they both shit themselves at once

Hi All,

Talk about back luck for me as well...I was getting into Far Cry 2 a few weeks ago and then I started to get the screen locking up and then finally got the dreaded 3 red lights....I got it working then just yesterday when I was REALLY REALLY getting into Fallout 2...it has now completely had it....(so no more Fallout for me) And trust my luck my live subscription ends this month...if I dont renew will I lose my tag?

1 month out of warranty...but I called xbox support and they told me that it will be fixed if I send it back because of the issue it is having..

Sending it back tomorrow...but I hope I dont have to go without it for 2 long and it gets fixed OK, as I have read some bad stuff on the net.

You won't lose your Tag. It always stays active just slips to silver if you stop paying for a gold subscription.

The red rings of death is Microsoft's not so secret shame. I little while ago I think they announced that the red rings of death were covered for 3 years from purchase. (I may have remembered this wrong, but I know that if you mention the RRoD to tech support they just fix it no questions asked.)

Good news is by the time you get it back the new dashboard update will be live and you will be able to play your games from your hard drive. No more noise, no more ROM drive wearing out fast and hopefully less lag and load time

When mine died, I got it back a week and a half later.
