Any Neverwinter Nights 1 (NWN1) fans out there? NWN1 is one of my all time favorite games. Released in late 2002, it is over 10 years old now, and yet still has an active community in many respects. One of my favorite things about it is the ability to modify the game extensively, similar to oblivion, or FO3, and yet be able to share it in an on line format. Many people have created single player modules and online multiplayer persistent worlds (PWs) that have completely re-worked the original game. The world I am involved with, Aventia 3 Merged- Unlimited Levels, for example has altered the game so that players can essentially continue to gain experience and levels way beyond the level 40 cap that is default. And we have made ton’s of other alterations as well. You can read about some of the changes here: http://social.bioware.com/forum/Neverwinter-Nights-1/NwN-1-Persistent-Worlds-amp-Multiplayer/Aventia-3-Merged--Unlimited-Levels-CEP-23-or-24-8508906-1.html And our new forums are here: http://aventia3.freeforums.net/ There are tons of other highly customized PWs out there that are equally amazing, and many different genres. Ours is a action world (hak and slash mostly), but there are story based worlds, role playing worlds, and many others. And a wealth of single player content available. Bioware (the original developer) official site is here: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/subindex/153 And there are numerous other resources for content like: http://nwvault.ign.com/ And information like: http://www.neverwinternights.info/index.htm or http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page You can buy it from gog.com here for 10$ (on sale for less sometimes): http://www.gog.com/gamecard/neverwinter_nights_diamond_edition If you want to play online, you will need to request a unique CD key from them after purchase (usually sent in a day or 2), and you might want to look at this thread for how to get access to the current server lists: http://social.bioware.com/forum/Neverwinter-Nights-1/NwN-1-General-Discussion-Forum-No-Spoilers-Allowed/Discontinued-Gamespy-support-information-and-a-unified-list-for-alternatives-to-the-master-server-list-15517034-1.html Unlike world of war craft, it is free to play online which has always been another key to my interest in the game. I hope you all give it some consideration, it’s definitely a classic, and pretty amazing what a community can do with a semi open source game after over 10 years of development.
