We are running a live Artemis game in Melbourne soon! It will be at the Backlot Studios in Southbank. They have an amazing cinema which will be used for the main screen. https://www.facebook.com/events/1422337654649298/

    All welcome :)

I actually have to play the game again soon to get used to it again and try out multiplayer with multiple ships

I found a pick up group on the artemis teamspeak. Early sunday morning - american prime time. I had two noobs that have never played before and our captain had role played for four years. Played two games as engineer. Was fun.

Need to find a way to preserve engineer presets between sessions. I have one for:

    Beam combat
    Torpedo combat
    Warp speed
    Maneuvoring
    Sensor ops
    Neutral (for cooling all systems)

So i can click a preset for whatever is required at the time. Problem is i lose the presets every time i close the client. :(

Im thinking of making a mobile 'shop' for this game, with cheap tablets mounted into wooden stands/frames. Pc and projector for main screen. Speakers as well. Trying to think who would hire this and what they would be prepared to pay. Set up costs would be in the low thousands.

So how much fun is it online - compared to actually all being in the same room?

I'm trying to organise some friends for it, depends more on the host (and his work commitments) - he has the projector in a dedicated room, so he's best for hosting.

Note: I dont care as much as "winning" the game as just having fun playing it

It'd be more fun in person, just to avoid having people talking over each other :)

The online benefit is its easier to have more people in more ships playing. I've been in a game with about four ships crewed - about 20 people or so - on the same mission. The amount of space required as well as the noise would be enough to stop that from happening in person.

Bandwidth becomes an issue too. No doubt on a LAN you could handle running all eight ships but even with a 20Mbit host, more than four ships starts to impact on the game.

If you need a crewman Bort for an RL session, give me a hoy :)

I played with 3 players total IRL and its more social as you can rib each other between missions, down a beer and nibble some of Nobbies nuts, but as far as the game is concerned - I think its about the same. You miss the joy of sharing a main screen though. I played with 4 players online which was neat and something that is much harder to organise in person.

It looks like we now have three players in +10 GMT. Two more and we've a full crew. :)

neimad, Geng, others - I've put the call out to nine other Aust/NZ randoms on the Artemis forum to see if we can get a weekly or fortnightly thing going.

    Greetings NZ/Aust Artemis players,

I've been trawling through these two threads in hopes of starting a weekly or fortnightly Artemis session at a time that suits Australasian's.

Seeking NZ, Austrialian or UTC+12 ish players - Artemis SBS Forums

Looking for australian players - Artemis SBS Forums

There are four other players I intend on contacting (forum limits me to 5 at a time) meaning we could have as many as 10 Aust/NZ players prepared to give this a shot.

If you're interested, let me know if you'd like this to be weekly or fortnightly and what night it should be. I'm open to weeknights but we might have quite a range of timezones to think about (+9.5 GMT -> +11 GMT) so consider that when you recommend a night.

    Cheers,

    TOG Fox

Let me know if you're interested.

I'm interested. Saturday evenings would work, say 8pm AEST (9pm AEDT)

Weeknights are a maybe but not out of the realms of possibility. Start fortnightly and go to weekly if there's enough interest?

I'm shooting for Tuesday night. Start time negotiable. See if that works for you. I've got a handle on a few others on the Artemis forum (do you have an account there?) so we'll see if Tuesday night floats. First game would be the 17th. :)

Tuesday is do-able in the short term however I have a standing commitment that would prevent regular attendance.

Sweet - something is better than nothing. I've posted in the official forums. 7:30pm Brisbane start time - Artemis official team speak. Need to account for the NZ'ers. If you can only start late then that's better than not starting at all. :)
