I thought I'd post my list of the best movies ever made and see how many of you thought the same. The following order IS significant.

    (1) Matrix
    (2) Aliens (i.e., Alien II)
    (3) T2
    (4) The Thing (the version with Kurt Russel)
    (5) Evil Dead II

Funny how most of them are sequals.

Hay, there are quite a few here I've never heard of, so I assume they must be good, so what's so great about:

    Princess Mononoke
    Ninja Scrolls
    MallRats
    The Replacements
    Equilibrium
    John Q
    Glory
    Wicked City
    Office Space

If you guys reckon they are good, then I had better order them. Good movies here can be pretty hard to come buy. Care to review any of the above?

Ninja Scroll - extremely violent, but still very well written Japanese Manga movie.
The Replacements - ?? This was voted a good movie? This movie was basically a NFL team owner wanting to devalue their team by sacking the entire lineup and replace them with 3 or 4th string players from fringe leagues. Same old story where "Given the opportunity, they come good to win the Whole Damn Show"
Wicked City - Another Japanese Manga. Very good.
Office Space - IMO... not so great a movie. Funny in parts, got Jennifer Aniston in it as it's big name star, but ahhh.... I'd rent it before going to spend any more money on it. :?

Just had a thought, if you can find Fist of the North Star, that's also another really well written and extremely violent Japanese Manga.

    1. The Princess Bride (yes, this is SERIOUSLY my all-time favourite)
    1. Commando
    2. Top Gun
    3. Under Siege
    4. Tango & Cash
    5. Rocky I-IV (V was crap)

The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars (Episode II and V), Saving Private Ryan and The Matrix should all be in that list too but I can't deny my love of cheese.

Yeah I would have to add the New Jersey series by Kevin SMith, with Chasing Amy my fav, TOP GUN, Ninja Scroll, Princess Mononoke (manga as well), Replacement Killers, Johnny Mnemonic, Fight Club, Usual Suspects (what a mind job), Crying Freeman (movie and Manga series both) and Turbo Drive (I like Marc Ducascas) are all great films too... And I could add 100 more if I really thought about it.

Glory was an academy award winning film back in 1989 (Awards for Best Male Supporting Actor (Denzel Washington), Best Cinematography and Best Sound.)

The movie is about Col Robert Gould Shaw, who led the first all-volunteer Black infantry regiment in the American Civil War. The battle scenes were some of the best until Saving Private Ryan came along, and the human drama played out by the well-rounded and developed characters is the most moving of all.

Stars Mathew Broderick (Shaw), Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington and Cary Elwes.

As can be drawn from the Academy awards won, the pictures and panoramas are sweeping and real, and ably supported and enhanced by James Horner's soundtrack.

Thoroughly recommend this one, I do. :)

Yes, I can vouch for Glory as well. Great movie. :)

Btw, I think I forgot to add Reservoir Dogs into my all time fav's ... some of the best dialogue in a movie and unique ... well, until Pulp Fiction came along anyway. :)

Equilibrium - KILLER action, Matrix-level intensity. Highly original.

John Q - Denzel Washington. How far will a father go for his son?? 'Nuff said.

    So many good movies, hard to list just five, here goes;

    • > Matrix,
      > Pulp Fiction,
      > Terminator 2,
      > Gladiator, and
      > The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
This is of course the unofficial 'mens' list, my wife would make a few changes and probably get it right

I'm sure It's a beautiful life would be in there  :D

Yep, SR is an absolute classic, I will have to add it to my collection of DVD's one day. What about Wall Street, Falling Down or The Game, any MD fans out there?
