One of the main reasons Guildwars was so good is its music, composed by the legendary composer Jeremy Soule.
He alone is responsible for more gaming memory's than you realise.
Although scoffed at by the so called Hardcore MMO players, Guildwars has more music (and from a better quality) then all major MMO's combined and then multiplied by 2, this also counts for the content of some MMO's.

In anticipation of the Guildwars 2 beta Here is the entire Guildwars soundtrack.

I've been thinking about this for quite a while. There are so many good themes to games I've played over the years...but to pick a best one? That was difficult for me.

There have been quite a few posted here that I agree with, but I think I finally narrowed it down to one that I think I could lay claim to being the *best* theme.

I picked this one simply because it has been remixed so many times over the years as the series has found itself on multiple platforms. Possibly not as well known as something like say, the Final Fantasy theme, or Zelda.

I present to you, Bloody Tears from the Castlevania series:

In case you are wondering, my favorite rendition starts at 1:00 in (the SNES version)

Here is fantastic music from good old time Sierra adventures, they don't make them like this anymore.
The production value was stellar for adventures back then.

Ultima 4 was probably the first RPG I ever played back in the 80's.. I have played hundreds since, yet i can not remember any music from any other game.. it all just worked together so perfectly.. I still hum the wanderer music on a semi regular occurance :D

I swear I had already posted in this thread, but can't find evidence, so will have to re-contribute the game that has the stickiest music for me...

Video Game Music and Songs - GameThemeSongs.com Most are mono, not stereo audio.

Afro Celt Sound System did a couple of game music suites. Since hearing them in Magic & Mayhem, I've bought all of their music and seen them twice in concert!

I turn off a lot of gaming music because it's just too grand for my tastes, but I always liked this one...

+1 for Mechwarrior2. I've hung onto the discs too, just for the music. I ripped it ages ago, and it's still great!
