Anyone doing the beta ? get rego numbers if you purchased MoH or something ?
Hows it work ?
It probably doesn't work. Likely you'll get access to the demo (beta) maybe a day or so before the rest of the world. That's apparently going to happen in September.
but how is the rest of the world getting access? Pre-order?
They have already said it is an open beta, so anyone who wants to play it will be able to regardless of whether they purchased moh or pre-ordered bf3.
the joys of playing the same map a thousand times... no matter still love it
Open beta my ass. Open would be if you can download for free without having purchased anything. or is that what it really means? I keep hearing that in the words, and wondering whether it's a dream. A free beta, with no strings attached, in this day and age - and from EA? It just doesn't sound real.
Might lessen the risk of going through Origin tho. If Origin ****s up some time within the first two weeks they're gonna lose a few hundred million dollars in sales. lol
Don't know why you seem surprised - it's pretty much been the deal with the franchise for a long time. BC2 had a single map demo, BF2 had one - don't recall the others, too far back and too many beers.
I think the BC2 gave the demo out a day or two early if you had pre-ordered. I also had a PS3 demo version earlier than the PC with no pre-order requirement. The BF2 one I don't believe had any stipulations as I'm sure I played it as soon as it was made available for download and I never pre-ordered a boxed version of a game in those days.
BF2 had their demo servers still running ages after the game was released .. was so funny but at least people got to play it for free
don't get me wrong, I've played the demos, and i'm all for them being free. BC2 didn't have one, and neither does just about anything else these days, that's why I was surprised to hear BF3 will.
Demo = Beta?
BC2 definitely had one. The snow covered map with sniper hill.
Yes, Butters. In the case of BC2, the beta was effectively the demo. Anyone could download it and play it for the month of February when it was released. Port Valdez (Rush mode) was the map we all got sick of after playing it for 4 weeks straight.
This time around, I'll probably play BF3 demo a few rounds then delete it. I overplayed that BC2 map and even today I'll bail when the server rotation comes round to it.
Wookie Hill was the Demo Map in BC2
A Twitter from EA, people who purchased moh may get the beta sooner than teh rest of us
Also, recommended spec's for the Alpha trial only, these will not be the same for the beta or the final version of the game.
