Apologies if this has already been talked about, but does anyone have any info on when (or if) STEAM are going to offer BF3 as a pre-order???

No word that I've heard, but it's what I've been waiting for. BC2 was a Steam release, so I'm hoping the trend will follow.

It will be a steam release as every hit EA game is. However, the biggest issue is the tension between steam and EA as I believe there is a relationship issue between the two. I'm going to take a guess and say it has something to do with the pricing as steam has always been renowned for being cheaper than EA of which only affects the EAstore. Conflict of interests really, but they seem to manage.

I don't want a DVD version, I want it via steam as the updating process is simple and easy, and never seem to have issues with steam games.

Same here Leevers. I've got the original discs for BF:1942 and BF2 - but have lost the CD-Key for one of them, and the other is scratched beyond repair. Sure it's my fault - but if I ever feel like getting back into Bad Company Too I just re-install it through Steam and sign in.

So quick, so easy and so reliable. Can't remember the last game I bought anywhere else...

There are always ways around regional pricing...that's one of the best things about TOG being international...Get a US/EU TOGger to gift it to you

for a game (this one looks like a keeper) that you might play for well over a year - the price (within reason) doent matter. Steam provides an unequaled patch process and back up service which is second to none.

I would be happy to pay full retail....to steam

If you think we get bent over bonnet by steam, then you clearly haven't bought a game via EA. they own the bonnet steam bend you over.

I for one as Redgum has mentioned couldn't care if they charged me $110. I'm still going to buy it, and play it for quite some time.

I'd probably pay full price for this one on Steam for the convenience. I don't think I could wait 8 days for a shipment while everyone else is digging in. I'm keen to see a pre-order too as on the odd occasion, Steam's prices are based on the US price. Picked up a few bargains that way before it was caught and corrected.

Just remember 'steam time' does not equate to normal time.......ie an update from EA/dice doesn't automatically update steam at the same time. Some games actually take another 24hrs b4 the update comes through on steam.

That said 95% of my games are via Steam just for the ease of backup and reinstall.

would you hold that against steam, or would you rather have issues with PB?

    Steam FTW! lol

    The problem is you can get both.....waiting to play because steam is behind in the patch release + pb is still running even though the game is bought through steam (unless it's a valve game PB still applies to EA games etc}

Or buy it elsewhere and then activate it on Steam. :)

    (I did the underline)
They wouldnt do it surely. It can be a destination but not the destination. It would be just another thing to go wrong - why risk stuffing up a release like BF3 with a new, unproven sales and service environment. They can try when they do a remake of 2142 with the new engine

Yeah that's why I said Internode seem to think that - from reading what they quoted it doesn't at all read as "exclusive", but maybe they're privy to other info. I think it'd be a real shot in the foot for them if they did that - but then, Bungie/Microsoft made Halo an Xbox exclusive...
