Does anyone know if the preorder on Origin is the physical warfare pack eg: shotty, ammo, lmg and something else plus karkland map pack same as eb preorder?? And anyone preordering on Origin worried about the launch night and the site being burdened with downloads that may cause delay if that is at all possible as I know it has occured on Steam before??
This has nothing to do with DLC restrictions or customer support. Every Ubisoft or Bioware game on Steam requires you to purchase UBIdollars or Bioware points to get DLC through each company's respective stores. EA are just blowing hot air up our asses again.
Maybe, Valve tend not to comment on anything and it still doesn't change EA not making any sense seeing all the other publishers on steam use whatever support/dlc systems they want and no one else is complaining/commenting about any of this. All of this seem to start when Origin was announced, conscience? Perhaps Valve don't want to risk saying anything as EA have them by the short and curlies - EA still hold the publishing rights to all of Valve's games on Consoles.
Not only is there no Steam, but even if you get the DVD version, you still need to be running Origin. Battlefield 3 for PC will require Origin - PC News at GameSpot I'll be getting it through Origin, most likely but I still find this a little disappointing.
I was going to get it on DVD so i wouldn't have to use Origin, now i guess i'll just get it on Origin, at least i'll get beta access. I just hope they have their shit sorted on release day, if we can't preload it i feel we wont be playing it for a couple of day's
Guys, guys, guys, as I said earlier, you would always need to use Origin no matter what retailer you got your product from. It's not that different from the old "login" in all the BF games except now it has a friends list out of game and in game web browser (steam much). EA are obviously making an attempt to cut into Steams user base and are using ME3 and BF3 to accomplish this. Smart move on their part. As much as I love Steam (and I DO love it) many in the industry have said their monopoly is damaging (I don't agree) and perhaps this is the first salvo in a bigger war. TL;DR You will always need to use Origin but you don't need to buy from them. Grab one of the $30 keys mentioned earlier in this thread and enter it into Origin.
I'd prefer it on Steam too, given that Origin has to be up and running to play anyway and that I already had a couple of Origin titles I just figured I'd get it out of the way and buy it on payday this month. If there was more than just a comment from Gabe saying he's like to work something out with EA, I may have been a little more patient.
I wouldnt mind buying it on origin if it wasnt a steaming pile of sh*t. its just that horrid ea downloader re-skinned. EA knows it cant get this stuff right, so why do they keep trying?
