A nice little (EA produced) video feature on BF3:
A few little clips that I had not seen before.
That was good, thanks for sharing Jacob.
At 2min58s, I swear thats the hotel in Jalalalalalalabad.
Unfortunatly I cant rep you, could someone please give this man some rep for me
thanks for the video jacob!
awesome maps Karkand looking good
I haven't said Jalalalalalalalalalalalalalalabad in soooooooooooooooooo long!
Must not make innuendo jokes..........
Attractive co-host aside, that was a good video report.
Also frostbite is the graphics engine, While the animation style is ANT technology, used in EA's big name NFL & Soccer franchises. Easy word slip tho.
And i want a copy of the rack wall with all the model gun replicas as seen in the video.
That looks very promising - even more excited now and wondering how I'm going to sneak my PC refresh past the missus.
Hey Stefan. Please show off your BAFTA....lmao
Talk to reFUSED, he's got his next few months of planning laid out, says he's laying the groundwork to finally broach the subject some time around November
These screenies are taken from the EA Pwnd show. It shows the differance between the new versions of the old maps. Its starting to look pretty good.
As you can see in the pics, its all pre-alpha footage....still looks amazing.
Roll o0n November
It's always good to have company in the dog house.
Is it November yet?

How bout now?
A nice place to find the latest from DICE is their developer twitter list:
(hope that link works)
Another great place for the tech-head inclined is DICE publications. You can see a lot about their new engine and what they are building into it. Some of the stuff makes me tingly thinking about it.
Interesting to note to the requirements estimated by Jonboy is the DX10-11 style of the engine means no Windows XP. (Unless you try some of the Open Source DX10 for WinXP attempts)
DICE seems to push the fact they are building for the next gen of games and some of their slides highlight the fact they don't have to worry about DX9 issues when they are fully embracing DX10/11.
Another plus is it looks like they are putting considerable forethought into SLI / Crossfire support which is very good news.
You can tell the developers are in crunch mode though - they've been working ridiculous hours and most of them are wearing 3 day old scruffs and eye shadow. Poor bastards!
Just managed a tweet response from Johan Andersson.
"Rendering Architect at DICE working on Frostbite, Battlefield 3 and future DICE/EA games."
Confirmed, no Windows XP for Battlefield 3. (As expected.)
Bring it on!
DougB, what your showing seems to suggest that there will be no dust storms in BF3 thus giving the maps that much cleaner sharper look when compared to BF2.
I was thinking the same thing. There are alternatives, they wanted to show the map in all its glory or that part of the engine isn't mature enough to show...?
I liked the dust storm, would be even nicer if it had volume and was carried by wind and every now and then you'd get a farther glimpse down the street through a gap in the dust.
throw a smoke nad @ purg
I like the new look old maps. Looking at the concept art for Sharqi I wouldn't be surprised if the map is at night.
Your right though Purg, the dust storm added ambiance to the maps. But I think the smoke they had for Karkand (and most of the other maps) was so the min spec pc's (at the time of release) could run the game.
I had thought the same and was going to suggest so, but then you look at other maps that had decently long draw distances with no smoke and you wonder if that's really the case?
I'd still like to see dust storms and smoke in the new maps if it was just a case of dumbing it down for systems at the time by masking areas with haze.
