I've realised you can't really play MAG without a headest.

I can't use my current wired USB Headset because the way my lounge is set up, so need to use a bluetooth set or wireless USB...

    Anyone have any recommendations?

I use the Logitech PS3 headset and it works well.

Don't give up on your USB headset if you don't want to buy a new one. You can get a USB extension cord. I bought one from Dick Smith (I think ... it is not the same as the one I have) so he could use the PS3 camera on the table when he plays Eye of Judgement. You can get them 5m and 10m long.

Also try Jaycar, they carry them as well.

Nah, my PS3 is parked precariously near an edge, so I don't want any cables in case people trip / pull on it and it crashes to the ground... ;)

The Genuine PS3 Headset appears to be pretty good. We picked it up for a song with the MAG game from Big W.

I also have the Bluetooth headset which came from the Warhawk pack when that game came out.

and I bought myself another headset EX-01 Gioteck which has a boom.

    EBay is your friend?

    Giotech

    Sony 1 and Sony 2

The funny thing is I'm yet to use any of them. My son was using them till MAG came out when I gave him the Sony one.

I will use the Giotech. The Warhawk headset is the spare, somewhere.

Ozi, I have one of those that I bought for Burnout Paradise. It' very good. I was using a Jabra BT125 that came with Warhawk, but my fellow BOP drivers complained that I was emitting a constant buzz/hum. The replacement fixed the prob.

Only problem is, I've been on a 6-month sabbatical from gaming while I moved house, etc. and now I return, I can't find the instructions to relink/turn off etc.
('s OK. I googled it. Note to self:: light must flash green/red to relink...)

I'm still trying to get mine all working correctly.

Maybe it's the distance from my mouth that's the problem for my GIOTECH and Jabra or the fact I'm trying to be very quiet so as not to wake the rest of the family.

Might need a Logitech cordless myself.

I use wireless headphones, with a Microsoft usb headset on over the top

It looks ridiculous and feels weird but it means the mic doesn't pick up and transmit the game sounds and it's easy to press the mute button when I'm not talking so it doesn't pick up other external sounds.

I love my Logitech Cordless Vantage - it's the best PS3 headset I've used when I'm using the "big TV".

    BUT.

I recently bought a second PS3, so I can play (at the desk in my home office) while kids/Mrs are watching TV.
The advantage with this is that I'm now in close proximity to the PS3 (on a shelf right next to the desk) so could conceivably use a cabled headset without too much hassle. The disadvantage is (correct me if I'm wrong) I can't listen to the sound of the game and the voice comms through the same headset. I presently listen to the game sound through a set of amp-powered desk speakers - or a set of headphones plugged into said amp.

You get the idea.. that's what I need to do! Either that or just wear the sound headphones ('cos I can hear the voice thru it) and have the bluetooth headset around my neck just to use the mic.

My question to those who are in the know:
If I were to go out and buy a USB headset, can I listen/speak to voice comms AND game sound through the same headset?
Or do USB headsets do the same as the bluetooth ones and only xmit the voice comms?

The PS3 will not output game audio via USB, so whether it's a headset or just normal headphones that connect via USB you won't be getting any game audio through them.

I was recently looking into this, and there is a headset that connects both via USB and the digital sound thingy, so you get the game audio, chat and can use the mic. I'll see if i can find the link again, though it was quite expensive.

Now that would be handy and I might not get the complaints from the family so much. :) but they will still complain about me talking and carring on I do in the game :)

Went out yesterday and impulse-bought a Logitech G330 because I just *happened* to be in JBHifi. Under a hundred bucks - but now I find some sites are promo-ing it for $35 :/

Irregardless; I tested it out on last night's MAG session and it worked really well. (That is, noone complained that I was making a racket...)

It's got a USB card adaptor with it, so I plug the mic into the PS3 USB port, and the headphone plug (3.5mm with an adaptor) into the headphone socket on my amp.
Set the PS3 to play voice sound thru the main audio device and Viola! MAGging with no nagging.

And I still get to use my Cordless Vantage for the other PS3 on the big TV.
    Happy.

LOL! Yeh, I found that too.
FWIW, I agree that it was a little bassy, but I had the bass cranked up a bit on my amp anyway, so that was easy enough to tweak.

I was discussing this possible ability with A_1 ages ago. Nice to know it works. Might try it with my logitech headset.
