Let me prefix this post with "I'm not complaining or disappointed by the game, just confused".

Am I the only one? When I first saw the pre-release videos, I anticipated something similar to a 4 person co-op game, similar to Left 4 Dead or Borderlands with the exception this was obviously a 3rd person game. But I'm fine with that cos I love quite a few 3rd person games.

But when I entered the game, the first thing I did was choose what my character looked like. OK, very reminiscent of Skyrim or Fallout, so maybe it's like an RPG. Then I entered my first safe house and noticed a number of other online players running around. I realise this is an online game, but I did not expect to come across RL players in this way. It reminded me of an MMO. So it is an MMORPG?

Well when I leave the safe houses, I no longer see any online players ... well not that I've found so far. It appears as though I can "squad" up with the players through those laptops in the safe houses, but that's it?

And I'm not sure about the story line  I don't want to put much here cos I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but I don't understand who I'm fighting against or why.

And why does the main character never talk? Even during cut scenes. Even to that odd female character.

And what is up with that female character? Her 3d modelling is bizarre at the best of times. Especially around the mouth and teeth :w

Am I the only one thinking these things?

Anyway, add me on PS4. My Id is : TOG-Rage_78 ... I'm really struggling to kill that guy on the roof and probably need some help :D

Yes it's a weird mix, an MMORPGTPSBBQ, more like Destiny than L4D or Borderlands.

It's always online, yet unless you join a squad you don't see anyone else when you're running around the city making it essentially feel like any old singleplayer game.

I think they are planning of having more MMO type aspects like raids and such but we'll wait and see I suppose.

I was hoping it would be more like Destiny's patrol mode when you see other players around the world and there's public events everyone can join in on, as it is now I've been playing solo and it's been pretty boring at times, just spend 75% of my time running from one mission to another with barely any enemies in between.

The Dark Zone is more interesting, populated with other random players running around shooting stuff however it's also a PvP area and I hear not particularly friendly to solo players. I think the dark zone will end up being unplayable for me. I imagine it's already populated with people who just play 18 hours a day, have all the best gear already and just walk around murdering other players for no real reason.

Glad I'm not the only one ;) Oh, and i forgot; what is up with the music during the battles? Reminds me of a mixture of the first terminator movie and a bad porn :D

It's an odd mix but I'm enjoying it :)
Kind of 'MMO lite' like Destiny.
The female character models are less attractive than the males, and the options for hair are terrible! But anyway, mine wears a hat, so :)
I think I read somewhere that its heavily instanced so you won't see agents running all over the streets, only in the safe houses or when on missions together. I guess that serves several purposes. From a story point of view I think it is the best way to go as its supposed to be the end of the world and not heavily populated.
